Inleiding
De VILLA in neo-renaissancestijl is omstreeks 1893 gebouwd en vormt een onderdeel van een reeks van zes in hoofdvorm en detaillering gelijksoortige villa's langs de 's-Gravelandseweg (nrs. 63-73). Waarschijnlijk zijn ze alle zes door de architect J.W. Meijer ontworpen in opdracht van A. van Delden.
De villa ligt iets teruggerooid van de 's- Gravelandseweg met de voorgevel naar de weg gekeerd.
Omschrijving
Pand van twee bouwlagen en kapverdieping, opgetrokken in rode baksteen op een nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond met aan de achtergevel links een grote serre. Het afgeknotte samengestelde schild-zadeldak is gedekt met gesmoorde kruispannen. Boven een gepleisterde plint zijn de gevels geleed met speklagen, een cordonlijst en langs de dakrand een hoofdgestel met kroonlijst op krulconsoles. Overwegend T-vensters met schuiframen en dubbele glasdeuren onder recht gesloten bovenlicht, een enkele voorzien van glas-in-lood. Boven de gevelopeningen op de begane grond segmentbogen en op de verdieping hanekammen met gepleisterde sierstenen en tegelmozaïeken in de boogvelden. Aan de voorgevel (NO) links twee vensterassen in een risaliet met in de eenvoudige topgevel een stolpvenster en kleine blinde roosvensters. Rechts een grote rechthoekige serre met in het hoofdvolume een schuifdeur, en op de serre een balkon waarop twee glasdeuren openen. De serre heeft openslaande deuren, een borstwering en enkele gesneden stijlen. In de middenrisaliet van de rechter zijgevel (NW) blinde vensters en links daarvan twee vensterassen en rechts een. De hoofdentree met oorspronkelijke deur bevindt zich iets rechts uit met midden in de linker zijgevel (ZO). Boven de paneeldeur met diefijzers een schuifvenster op de verdieping en links een risaliet met stolpvenster op de begane grond.
Aan de achtergevel (NW) links een risaliet met afgeknotte topgevel en daarvoor een grote rechthoekige serre. Op de verdieping glasdeuren (L) naar het balkon en een venster (R). Rechts een plat afgedekte aanbouw en daarboven een klein balkon, waarop een glasdeur opent. Links van de balkondeur een klein smal rechthoekig venstertje. Vanuit de tot deur gewijzigde opening in de topgevel een brandtrap.
In het interieur is het trappenhuis uitgevoerd in hout en ijzer goed bewaard gebleven, alsmede in de hal een marmeren vloer en verder nog diverse oorspronkelijke paneeldeuren en de schuifdeuren in de kamers-en-suite.
Waardering
De villa is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als representatief voorbeeld van een villa in neo-renaissancestijl uit het einde van de negentiende eeuw. Het pand is met name van stedenbouwkundig belang vanwege de beeldbepalende situering en de ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van een reeks van zes gelijksoortige villa's langs de 's-Gravelandseweg.

The VILLA in neo-renaissance style was built around 1893 and forms part of a series of six villas of similar main form and detailing along the 's-Gravelandseweg (nos. 63-73). They were probably all six designed by architect J.W. Meijer on commission from A. van Delden.
The villa is situated slightly set back from the 's-Gravelandseweg with its front facade facing the road.
Description
Building of two storeys and attic storey, constructed in red brick on an approximately square floor plan with a large conservatory on the left of the rear facade. The truncated combined hipped-gabled roof is covered with mortared roof tiles in a cross pattern. Above a rendered plinth the facades are articulated with string courses, a cordon and along the roof edge a cornice with crown moulding on curved consoles. Predominantly T-windows with sash frames and double glass doors under straight-topped fanlights, some furnished with leaded glass. Above the openings on the ground floor segmental arches and on the upper storey decorative brick courses with rendered ornamental stones and tile mosaics in the arch fields. On the front facade (NE) on the left two window bays in a risalit with in the simple roof gable a pivot window and small blind rosette windows. On the right a large rectangular conservatory with a sliding door in the main volume, and on the conservatory a balcony onto which two glass doors open. The conservatory has opening doors, a parapet and some carved stiles. In the middle risalit of the right side facade (NW) blind windows and to the left of it two window bays and on the right one. The main entrance with original door is located slightly to the right from the middle of the left side facade (SE). Above the panelled door with anti-burglar bars a sash window on the upper storey and on the left a risalit with pivot window on the ground floor.
On the rear facade (NW) on the left a risalit with truncated roof gable and in front of it a large rectangular conservatory. On the upper storey glass doors (L) to the balcony and a window (R). On the right a flat-roofed extension and above it a small balcony, onto which a glass door opens. To the left of the balcony door a small narrow rectangular window. From the opening converted to a door in the roof gable a fire escape.
In the interior the staircase is executed in wood and iron and well-preserved, as well as in the hall a marble floor and further still several original panelled doors and the sliding doors in the adjoining rooms.
Valuation
The villa is of general importance because of its architectural and cultural-historical value as a representative example of a neo-renaissance style villa from the end of the nineteenth century. The property is particularly of urban planning importance because of its image-defining location and ensemble value as part of a series of six similar villas along the 's-Gravelandseweg.
