Inleiding.
Het STANDBEELD voor Jeroen Bosch is geplaatst op de Markt, in het centrum van 's-Hertogenbosch. Het standbeeld werd ontworpen en gesigneerd door de beeldhouwer A. Falise. Het standbeeld, dat stijlelementen van het Realisme vertoont, werd opgericht in 1930.
Omschrijving.
Het bronzen standbeeld is geplaatst op een granieten sokkel, die een driedelige opstand vertoont: een tweedelige octogonale basis met daarboven een tweedelige, getrapte blokvormige sokkel. Aan de voorzijde van de sokkel de inscriptie: "IHERONIMUS BOSCH 1450-1516". Hierboven het bronzen beeld van Jeroen Bosch, staand tegen een basement. De schilder is gekleed in een ruim vallend gewaad en draagt een middeleeuws aandoend hoofddeksel. In de rechterhand houdt de schilder een penseel, in de linkerhand een palet. Op de basis van het bronzen beeld de signatuur Aug. Falise.
Waardering.
Het standbeeld voor Jeroen Bosch is van algemeen belang. Het standbeeld bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als herinnering aan de beroemde Bossche schilder. Het standbeeld heeft kunsthistorische waarde door de Realistische stijl, karakteristiek voor standbeelden uit de jaren dertig van de 20ste eeuw.
