Inleiding
Omstreeks 1880 gebouwd WINKEL-WOONHUIS met een negentiende-eeuwse gevel voor een veel oudere kern, wat ook te zien is aan de achterzijde van het pand. De gevel is gebouwd in een aan het Neo-Classicisme verwante bouwstijl. In de pui is bovendien de invloed van de destijds in zwang zijnde Neo-Hollandse Renaissance zichtbaar. Het inwendige van het pand is ingrijpend verbouwd. Het pand maakt deel uit van een gesloten gevelwand in het beschermde stadsgezicht van Dordrecht.
Omschrijving
Het pand is opgetrokken vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond. De voorgevel is van het lijstgeveltype en opgetrokken in gepleisterde baksteen boven een grotendeels houten winkelpui. Het drie bouwlagen tellende pand staat onder een met Hollandse pannen gedekt schilddak.
De geheel donkergrijs geschilderde pui van de symmetrische voorgevel bestaat uit een groot, boven een geprofileerde plint staand etalageraam, tussen gietijzeren zuiltjes. Het bovenraam is voorzien van een sierrand met snijwerk in de hoeken en in het midden. Het bovenlicht staat tussen consoles met voluten, die rusten op de gietijzeren zuiltjes. De niet-oorspronkelijke glasdeuren links (winkel) en rechts (bovenwoning) van de etalage staan tussen voornoemde zuiltjes en houten hoekpilasters met onder meer renaissance motieven en gebeeldhouwde kopjes, die door steile pyramides bekroonde kraagstukken ondersteunen. De deuren staan onder een gedeeld bovenlicht. Het tweelicht bestaat uit twee rondboogramen met een gedraaide balusters als middenstijl. De puibalk is samengesteld uit een terugliggend veld met rozetten en kleine consoles, die de onderste profiellijst met de eveneens geprofileerde, op klossen rustende kroonlijst verbinden. De gepleisterde gevel is voorzien van schijnvoegen en accenten in de vorm van diamantkoppen aan de penanten en pseudo-sluitstenen boven de vensters, waarvan er twee in beide bouwlagen staan. De vensters zijn rechtgesloten en bevatten schuiframen met glas-in-lood in de bovenramen. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een houten entablement met geprofileerde kroonlijst. Uit het dakschild hierboven steekt een rechthoekige houten dakkapel. Het pand is inwendig ingrijpend verbouwd.

Het winkel-woonhuis is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische, de architectuurhistorische en de stedenbouwkundige waarde.

A SHOP-RESIDENCE built around 1880 with a nineteenth-century facade for a much older core, which is also evident from the rear of the building. The facade was built in a building style related to Neo-Classicism. In the shop front, moreover, the influence of the Neo-Dutch Renaissance that was in vogue at the time is visible. The interior of the building has been substantially altered. The building forms part of a closed facade wall in the protected townscape of Dordrecht.
Description
The building is erected from a rectangular ground plan. The front facade is of the cornice-topped facade type and erected in plastered brick above a largely wooden shop front. The three-storey building stands under a hipped roof covered with Dutch tiles.
The entirely dark-grey painted shop front of the symmetrical front facade consists of a large display window standing above a moulded plinth, between cast-iron pilasters. The upper window is provided with a decorative border with cut work in the corners and in the centre. The fanlight stands between brackets with volutes, which rest on the cast-iron pilasters. The non-original glazed doors on the left (shop) and right (upper residence) of the display window stand between the aforementioned pilasters and wooden corner pilasters with amongst other things Renaissance motifs and sculpted heads, which are supported by steep pyramids crowned corbels. The doors stand under a divided fanlight. The two-light consists of two round arch windows with a twisted balusters as central mullion. The shop front beam is composed of a recessed field with rosettes and small brackets, which connect the lower moulding profile with the likewise moulded cornice resting on blocks. The plastered facade is provided with false joints and accents in the form of diamond heads on the pilasters and pseudo-keystones above the windows, of which there are two in both storeys. The windows are straight-topped and contain sash windows with leaded glass in the upper windows. The facade is closed off by a wooden entablature with moulded cornice. A rectangular wooden roof dormer projects from the roof section above. The building has been substantially altered internally.
Valuation
The shop-residence is of general interest on account of its cultural-historical, architectural-historical and urban planning value.
