Inleiding
Uit 1895 daterend woonhuis, dat mogelijk is gebouwd als KANTOORWONING, naar ontwerp van de architect W. Stork en vermoedelijk in opdracht van J. Geerken. Omstreeks 1930 is het in een Eclectische Overgangsstijl gebouwde pand verbouwd tot winkelwoning voor een leer- en bontzaak. Bij deze verbouwing is de pui gewijzigd en is de oorspronkelijke ruimteindeling aangepast aan de nieuwe functie van het pand. De achtergevel is naderhand opnieuw opgemetseld. Het pand heeft momenteel alleen nog een woonfunctie en maakt deel uit van een gesloten gevelwand in het beschermde stadsgezicht van Dordrecht.
Omschrijving
De voormalige kantoorwoning telt drie bouwlagen onder een gebroken zadeldak. De markante voorgevel is opgetrokken in grotendeels gepleisterde baksteen en is boven de in 1930 verbouwde pui geheel symmetrisch opgezet. De begane grond is voorzien een hardstenen plint, schijnvoegen en diamantkoppen en bevat links een groot venster met een vijfdelig bovenlicht in de vorm van een liggende ellipsboog. Rechts een onder een rondboogvormig bovenlicht staande deur met decoratief vormgegeven roosters voor de rondboogvormige deurramen. De eerste verdieping wordt gedomineerd door een rechthoekige houten erker met snijwerk en glas-in-lood in de bovenramen.
De erker heeft een geprofileerde kroonlijst, waarop een balkonbalustrade met tussen houten hoekbalusters staande, smeedijzeren balustradehekjes is bevestigd. Een smal, rechtgesloten venster aan weerszijden van de erker bevat een eveneens met glas-in-lood ingevuld bovenlicht. De hoeken van de gevel worden op de verdiepingen gemarkeerd door zware halfzuilen, die worden aangezet ter hoogte van de onderdorpels. De tweede verdieping is ongepleisterd boven de onderdorpels van de twee vensters die de centraalgeplaatste openslaande balkondeuren flankeren. De balkondeuren zijn glasdeuren met afgeronde raamhoeken en staan onder een rechtgesloten bovenlicht. De halfzuilen dragen een hoofdgestel dat direct aansluit op de gevelopeningen van de tweede verdieping. In het hoofdgestel zijn gepleisterde blokken boven de halzuilen en muurdammen opgenomen en segmentboogvormige ontlastingsboogjes boven de vensters. Boven de balkondeuren een gebogen fronton met een handgeschilderd tegeltableau in het tympaan. De geprofileerde bovenrand is voorzien van een tandlijst. De gevel heeft een volledig gepleisterde topgevel samengesteld uit een in- en uitzwenkende gevel en een getrapte bekroning. Deze wordt geflankeerd door op de halfzuilen staande obelisken en heeft een rechtgesloten venster.
In het inwenige zijn onder meer nog stucdecoraties aan het plafond van de woonkamer, paneeldeuren, de oorspronkelijke trap met gesneden trappalen en gietijzeren spijlen, alsmede de marmeren vloerplaten in de hal bewaard gebleven.
Waardering
De kantoorwoning is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische, de architectuurhistorische en de stedenbouwkundige waarde.

Introduction
A dwelling-house dating from 1895, which may have been built as an OFFICE-DWELLING, designed by the architect W. Stork and presumed to have been commissioned by J. Geerken. Around 1930 the building, constructed in an Eclectic Transitional style, was converted into a shop-dwelling for a leather and fur goods business. During this conversion the facade was altered and the original spatial layout was adapted to the new function of the building. The rear facade was subsequently re-mortared. The building currently has only a residential function and forms part of a closed facade wall in the protected historic townscape of Dordrecht.
Description
The former office-dwelling comprises three storeys beneath a broken saddle roof. The striking front facade is constructed largely in plastered brick and is completely symmetrical above the facade altered in 1930. The ground floor is provided with a hardstone plinth, false joints and diamond coping and contains on the left a large window with a five-part fanlight in the form of a recumbent elliptical arch. On the right a door standing beneath a semicircular fanlight with decoratively designed grilles for the semicircular door windows. The first storey is dominated by a rectangular wooden bay window with carved work and leaded glass in the upper windows.
The bay window has a profiled cornice, on which a balcony balustrade with wrought-iron balustrade railings standing between wooden corner balusters is affixed. A narrow, straight-sided window on either side of the bay window contains a fanlight likewise filled with leaded glass. The corners of the facade are marked on the storeys by heavy half-columns, which are set at the height of the sills. The second storey is unplastered above the sills of the two windows flanking the centrally placed opening glass doors. The glass doors have rounded frame corners and stand beneath a straight-sided fanlight. The half-columns carry an entablature that directly adjoins the facade openings of the second storey. In the entablature are included plastered blocks above the half-columns and wall piers and segmental arch relieving arches above the windows. Above the glass doors a curved pediment with a hand-painted tile tableau in the tympanum. The profiled upper edge is provided with a dentil course. The facade has a fully plastered gable composed of an advancing and receding gable and a stepped cornice. This is flanked by obelisks standing on the half-columns and has a straight-sided window.
In the interior, among other features, stucco decorations on the ceiling of the living room, panelled doors, the original staircase with carved balusters and cast-iron balusters, as well as the marble floor tiles in the hall have been preserved.

The office-dwelling is of general importance on account of its cultural-historical, architectural-historical and urban planning value.
