Inleiding
BANKGEBOUW met woning uit 1917 naar ontwerp uit 1916 van de Dordtse architect Carel Tenenti in 'Um 1800' stijl. Het gebouw staat in een gesloten straatwand van de Groenmarkt, met de achtergevel aan de Voorstraathaven.
Omschrijving
Het bankgebouw heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt drie bouwlagen met een kaplaag. De drie assen brede voorgevel is met gefrijnde zandsteen bekleed en voorzien van vier pilasters die boven de gevelrand uitsteken en verlevendigd zijn met ingegraveerde voluutmotieven. De linkertravee heeft een plat dak met mastiek dekking, het rechterdeel is geplaatst onder een gebroken schilddak bedekt met holle pannen. De dakkappen liggen achter een hardstenen dakrand. Het gebouw heeft rechthoekige vensters met houten (schuif)kozijnen aan de onderzijde voorzien van een hardstenen dorpel.
De voorgevel heeft een licht vooruitspringende hardstenen plint. Rechts bevindt zich de entree met dubbele deuren onder een rondboogbovenlicht waar een sierlijk smeedijzeren rooster voor is geplaatst. De entree heeft een hardstenen drempel. In de deuromlijsting staat vermeld: "opger. 1882". Aan weerszijden in de hoeken wapens met leeuwen en een grieks kruis. Op de begane grond en op de verdieping twee vensterpartijen met schuin terugwijkende zijlichten. Boven de voordeur een T-venster. Op de tweede verdieping een reeks van tien vensters met geprofileerde draairamen. Op de vier tussenliggende lisenen mascarons en een golvende, hardstenen daklijst.
De achtergevel (zuid-oost), die direkt aan de Voorstraathaven grenst, heeft op de begane grond aan de rechterzijde een erker met afgeschuinde zijden. In alle drie zijden zijn draairamen geplaatst. De erker rust op gemetselde consoles met hardstenen delen. De begane grond bevat verder 8 draairamen. De verdiepingen zijn teruggelegen waardoor een groot dakterras aanwezig is. Hieraan openslaande deuren en een T-venster. Op de tweede verdieping twee T-vensters.
Het interieur bevat een ijzeren spiltrap in het kantoor en de originele bankkluis in de hal. De hal heeft een gepolijste marmeren vloer en marmeren lambriseringen. In de hal zijn de vloeren van granito en de wanden bij de bewaard gebleven eikenhouten loketten van marmer. De eikenhouten tochtportaaldeuren hebben in de zwikken houtsnijwerk en bovenlichten met glas-in-lood. De achter het kantoor gelegen directiekamer is afgewerkt met een eikenhouten betimmering, die van enig snijwerk is voorzien en onder meer bestaat uit een hoge lambrizering, deuromlijstingen en een houten plafond. Aan weerzijden van de eenvoudige marmeren schouw zijn kasten opgenomen.
Waardering

The bank building has a rectangular floor plan and comprises three storeys with an attic storey. The three-bay wide front facade is clad with fine-dressed sandstone and furnished with four pilasters that project above the gable line and are enlivened with incised scroll motifs. The left bay has a flat roof with bituminous covering, the right section is placed under a broken hipped roof covered with hollow tiles. The roof edges lie behind a limestone roof edge. The building has rectangular windows with wooden sash windows at the base furnished with a limestone sill.
The front facade has a slightly projecting limestone plinth. On the right is the entrance with double doors under a round-arch fanlight where an ornamental wrought-iron grille is placed. The entrance has a limestone threshold. In the door frame is inscribed: "opger. 1882". On either side in the corners are coats of arms with lions and a Greek cross. The interior contains an iron spiral staircase in the office and the original bank vault in the hall. The hall has a polished marble floor and marble wall panelling. In the hall the floors are of granito and the walls next to the preserved oak-wood tellers' windows are of marble. The oak-wood draught-proof doors have carved woodwork in the spandrels and fanlights with leaded glass. The director's office located behind the office is finished with oak-wood panelling, which is provided with some carving and consists among other things of high wall panelling, door frames and a wooden ceiling. On either side of the simple marble fireplace are cupboards built in.
