Inleiding
TRANSFORMATORGEBOUW, gebouwd omstreeks 1925 in opdracht van het Provinciaal Elektriciteitsbedrijf (PEB) in een stijl waarin Amsterdamse School-elementen zijn te herkennen. Het gebouwtje, dat wordt aangeduid als `Hamrik 4107', is een voorbeeld van een type trafo met overkragend plat dak. Aan dezelfde weg (Hoofdweg Oost by 17) staat een identieke trafo, die eveneens is beschermd.
De trafo is markant gelegen in het open veld in een bocht aan de doorgaande weg van Nieuwolda.
Omschrijving
Het TRANSFORMATORGEBOUW op rechthoekige plattegrond is opgetrokken in rode baksteen op een naar voren springend trasraam van gesinterde bruine baksteen en wordt gedekt door een ruim overstekend plat betonnen dak dat rust op betonnen klossen; aan de bovenzijde van de gevelwand band van vierkante betondecoraties.
De entree bevindt zich in de voorgevel (noordzijde) en bestaat uit een stalen deur met ijzeren gehengen; omlijsting van uitkragend metselwerk afgedekt door een keperboog.
In de achtergevel (zuidzijde) in het trasraam een ijzeren rooster.
In de westgevel een stalen deur met omlijsting van uitkragend metselwerk afgedekt door een keperboog.

TRANSFORMER BUILDING, built around 1925 on behalf of the Provincial Electricity Company (PEB) in a style in which Amsterdam School elements can be recognized. Description
The TRANSFORMER BUILDING on a rectangular plan is constructed in red brick on a forward projecting substructure of sintered brown brick and is covered by a widely overhanging flat concrete roof that rests on concrete blocks; at the top of the gable wall a band of square concrete decorative elements.
The entrance is located in the front facade (north side) and consists of a steel door with iron hinges; surround of projecting brickwork topped by a herringbone arch.
In the rear facade (south side) in the substructure an iron grille.
In the west facade a steel door with surround of projecting brickwork topped by a herringbone arch.
