Inleiding
Voormalig STOOMGEMAAL, gebouwd in 1919 in een Ambachtelijk-traditionele stijl in opdracht van het Waterschap De Groeve en Binnenlanden en waarschijnlijk naar ontwerp van architect G. Kruizinga uit Oostwold. De uitvoering van het werk werd gegund aan de gebroeders Cramer uit Midwolda. Sinds 1969 is het gemaal echter buiten bedrijf, het doet tegenwoordig dienst als garage annex schuur; van het oorspronkelijke interieur is niets over. De platte houten aanbouw aan de achterzijde komt wegens te weinig architectonische kwaliteit niet voor bescherming van rijkswege in aanmerking.
Het gemaal is teruggerooid gelegen aan de zuidzijde van de Huningaweg, de doorgaande weg van Oostwold naar Midwolda; de noordzijde van deze weg is aangewezen als gebied met bijzondere architectonische en stedenbouwkundige kwaliteit. Het gemaal vormt een opvallend ensemble met het eveneens beschermde naastgelegen gemaal Huningaweg by 8. Samen herinneren ze aan de voormalige beheersing van de waterhuishouding in dit gebied.
Omschrijving
Het één verdieping hoge, voormalige STOOMGEMAAL op rechthoekige plattegrond is opgetrokken in rode baksteen op een trasraam van bruine baksteen en wordt gedekt door een zadeldak waarop geglazuurde zwarte Friese golfpannen; fries van gele en rode baksteen; gietijzeren goot. De gevels worden geleed door getoogde staande vensters met ijzeren roedenverdeling onder een segmentboog van gele en bruine baksteen.
In de tuitgevel aan de voorzijde (noordgevel) twee getoogde staande vensters, waartussen een gevelsteen waarop geschreven `gebouwd in het jaar 1919 Onder het bestuur D.K. Mensinga J. Struif R.F. Toren A. Botjes R.F. Brouwer'. In de top een rond venster met decoratieve ijzeren roedenverdeling met rondom een rollaag van gele en bruine baksteen.
In de oostgevel een getoogd staand venster en niet-originele deuren.
In de tuitgevel aan de achterzijde (zuidgevel) twee getoogde staande vensters en in de top een rond venster met decoratieve ijzeren roedenverdeling met rondom een rollaag van gele en bruine baksteen. Voor deze gevel een niet-originele aanbouw (niet beschermd).

Former STEAM PUMPING STATION, built in 1919 in a Craft-traditional style on commission of the Waterboard De Groeve en Binnenlanden and probably designed by architect G. Kruizinga from Oostwold. Description
The one-storey, former STEAM PUMPING STATION on a rectangular plan is built of red brickwork on a travertine frame of brown brickwork and is covered by a gabled roof with glazed black Frisian corrugated tiles; frieze of yellow and red brickwork; cast-iron gutter. The gables are articulated by arched standing windows with iron glazing bars under a segmental arch of yellow and brown brickwork.
In the spout gable at the front (north gable) two arched standing windows, between which a gable stone inscribed 'built in the year 1919 Under the administration D.K. Mensinga J. Struif R.F. Toren A. Botjes R.F. Brouwer'. In the apex a round window with decorative iron glazing bars with rollmoulding all around of yellow and brown brickwork.
