Inleiding
TRANSFORMATORGEBOUW, gebouwd omstreeks 1925 in opdracht van het Provinciaal Elektriciteitsbedrijf (PEB) in een stijl waarin Amsterdamse School-elementen zijn te herkennen. Het gebouwtje, dat wordt aangeduid als `De Kamp 4100', is een voorbeeld van een type trafo met overkragend plat dak. Aan dezelfde weg (Hoofdweg Oost to 77) staat een identieke trafo, die eveneens is beschermd.
De trafo is markant gelegen in het open veld aan de doorgaande weg van Nieuwolda.
Omschrijving
Het TRANSFORMATORGEBOUW op rechthoekige plattegrond is opgetrokken in rode baksteen op een naar voren springend trasraam van gesinterde bruine baksteen en wordt gedekt door een ruim overstekend plat betonnen dak dat rust op betonnen klossen; aan de bovenzijde van de gevelwand band van vierkante betondecoraties.
De entree bevindt zich in de voorgevel (zuidzijde) en bestaat uit een stalen deur met ijzeren gehengen; omlijsting van uitkragend metselwerk afgedekt door een keperboog.
In de achtergevel (noordzijde) in het trasraam twee ijzeren rooster.
In de oostgevel een stalen deur met omlijsting van uitkragend metselwerk afgedekt door een keperboog.

Transformatorgebouw van algemeen belang vanwege architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde:

TRANSFORMER STATION, built around 1925 on behalf of the Provincial Electricity Company (PEB) in a style in which elements of the Amsterdam School can be recognised. Description
The TRANSFORMER STATION on a rectangular floor plan is constructed in red brick on a stepped-forward tuff frame of sintered brown brick and is covered by a widely overhanging flat concrete roof which rests on concrete blocks; at the top of the facade wall a band of square concrete ornaments.
The entrance is located in the front facade (south side) and consists of a steel door with iron hinges; surround of projecting brickwork topped by a header arch.
In the rear facade (north side) in the tuff frame two iron grilles.
In the east facade a steel door with surround of projecting brickwork topped by a header arch.
