Inleiding
Complex bestaande uit een voormalige MOLENAARSWONING gebouwd in 1862 in opdracht van de heer Dijkstra bij de reeds als rijksmonument aangewezen achtkante BOVENKRUIER met stelling (monumentnummer 39015) eveneens uit 1862. Het molenaarsbedrijf is tot het begin van de jaren zeventig van de twintigste in gebruik geweest. Tot het interieur van de molenaarswoning behoorden oorspronkelijk een kleine winkel en een kantoortje. Toen in 1953 (na aankoop van de gemeente) de plattegrond werd gewijzigd, zijn beide ruimtes verdwenen. De molenaarswoning is nu in gebruik als woonhuis en is eind jaren tachtig gerenoveerd. Bij deze renovatie, die gereedkwam in 1990, zijn het winkeltje en het kantoortje bij de woonkamer gevoegd en zijn de huidige entree met trapopgang en de bijkeuken ten koste van de schuurruimte tot stand gekomen. Het meest zuidelijke venster in de oostgevel van het schuurgedeelte is daarbij vervallen. Oorspronkelijk hoorden bij het complex ook een stookhut en een schuurtje; beide zijn afgebroken.
De molenaarswoning is markant gelegen op de hoek van de Nassaustraat en de Irisstraat, met aan de achterzijde de molen. Aan de Nassaustraat staan in totaal drie molens, waaronder deze, die alle tezamen een beeldbepalend element in de stad vormen.
Omschrijving
MOLENAARSWONING met aangebouwde SCHUUR opgetrokken in een rood-bruine baksteen. Het wolfdak met strakke windveren is aan de voorzijde gedekt met een zwarte Hollandse pan en voor de rest met een rode Hollandse pan. Het dak heeft een bakgoot op ijzeren klampen, en op de nok twee gemetselde schoorstenen met kap en een houten piron.
De WONING heeft aan de voorzijde (zuid) een paneeldeur onder een bovenlicht met gietijzeren levensboom en strek, vier zesruitsvensters met strek, en vijf tweeruits zaadvensters met strek. Aan de oostzijde vier (oorspronkelijk drie) zesruits vensters; aan de westzijde twee zesruits vensters met rollaag en een klein venster met rollaag (alle drie niet origineel).
De westgevel van de aangebouwde SCHUUR heeft een krimp met aan de zuidzijde een vierruits venster en aan de westzijde drie (oorspronkelijk twee) kleine tweeruits schuurvensters. In de achtergevel (noord) vernieuwde dubbele schuurdeuren onder een latei, twee kleine tweeruits schuurvensters met rollaag, een deur met tweeruits bovenlicht en rollaag, en een wc venster met rollaag. In de oostgevel een deur (niet origineel) met bovenlicht, en twee kleine tweeruits schuurvensters met rollaag.
In het INTERIEUR is onder meer van belang: het balkenplafond in de gang.

Introduction
Complex consisting of a former MILLER'S HOUSE built in 1862 on commission of Mr Dijkstra next to the already nationally-monument-designated octagonal DUTCH WINDMILL with staging (monument number 39015) also from 1862. The milling business was in use until the beginning of the seventies of the twentieth century. The interior of the miller's house originally included a small shop and a small office. When in 1953 (after purchase by the municipality) the floor plan was altered, both spaces disappeared. The miller's house is now in use as a residential house and was renovated in the late eighties. During this renovation, which was completed in 1990, the small shop and office were joined to the living room and the current entrance with staircase and kitchenette were created at the expense of the shed space. The most southerly window in the east gable of the shed part was thereby removed. Originally the complex also included a heating hut and a small shed; both have been demolished.
The miller's house is markedly situated on the corner of the Nassaustraat and the Irisstraat, with the mill on the rear side. On the Nassaustraat there are in total three mills, including this one, which together form a defining visual element in the city.
Description
MILLER'S HOUSE with attached SHED constructed in reddish-brown brick. The half-hipped roof with neat wind bracing is covered on the front with black Dutch tiles and for the rest with red Dutch tiles. The roof has a gutter on iron cramps, and on the ridge two brick chimneys with caps and a wooden weathercock.
The HOUSE has on the front (south) a panelled door under a fanlight with cast-iron tree of life and stretcher, four six-pane windows with stretcher, and five two-pane seed windows with stretcher. On the east side four (originally three) six-pane windows; on the west side two six-pane windows with roller blinds and a small window with roller blind (all three not original).
The west gable of the attached SHED has a crack with on the south side a four-pane window and on the west side three (originally two) small two-pane shed windows. In the rear gable (north) renewed double shed doors under a lintel, two small two-pane shed windows with roller blind, a door with two-pane fanlight and roller blind, and a toilet window with roller blind. In the east gable a door (not original) with fanlight, and two small two-pane shed windows with roller blind.
In the INTERIOR is notably important: the beam ceiling in the hallway.
