Inleiding
Voormalige WATERTOREN met REINWATERKELDER, 1925-1926. Gebouwd in opdracht van het waterleidingbedrijf van de particuliere mijnonderneming Laura & Vereeniging te Eygelshoven, naar een ontwerp van het bouwbureau van dit bedrijf. Gesitueerd bovenaan de westelijke helling van het Wormdal, ten zuidwesten van de kern van Rimburg. De watertoren stond in functionele relatie met het waterpompstation langs de Worm, ten oosten van Rimburg.
De watertoren heeft in 1944 oorlogsschade opgelopen. Het metselwerk van diverse gevelvlakken is dientengevolge vernieuwd.
Omschrijving
De voormalige watertoren is opgetrokken op een achtzijdige PLATTEGROND. De toren heeft een zich over vijf lagen verjongende betonnen skeletconstructie en wordt bekroond door een overkragend waterreservoir met flauw hellend TENTDAK. Het betonskelet is ingevuld met bakstenen gevelvelden, in variërende baksteenkwaliteiten, metselverbanden en voegwerken. De toren is overwegend opgetrokken in halfsteens metselverband behoudens een kruisverband in het gevelvlak rondom de entree.
Stalen entreedeur onder een strekboog. Afwisselend over de lagen en in de gevelvlakken rondom het reservoir zijn rechthoekige stalen lamelroosters aangebracht.
Naast de toren bevindt zich een betonnen reinwaterkelder.
In het INTERIEUR van de watertoren is geen lekvloer aanwezig. De rondgang rondom het waterreservoir is bereikbaar via een open trapconstructie die aan de gevelwand is bevestigd.
Waardering
De voormalige watertoren met reinwaterkelder uit 1925-1926 bezit algemeen belang wegens:
- de ouderdom;
- de betekenis voor de geschiedenis van de mijnbouw en voor de geschiedenis van de watervoorziening;
- de slank-sierlijke vormgeving, mogelijk gemaakt door toepassing van het gewapend betonskelet, die dankzij de hoge situering op treffende wijze (reeds van grote afstand) te ervaren is;
- de redelijke mate van gaafheid.

Introduction
Former WATER TOWER with CLEAN WATER CELLAR, 1925-1926. Built by order of the water supply company of the private mining enterprise Laura & Vereeniging at Eygelshoven, according to a design by the building office of this company. Situated at the top of the western slope of the Wormdal, to the southwest of the core of Rimburg. The water tower stood in functional relationship with the water pumping station along the Worm, to the east of Rimburg.
The water tower sustained war damage in 1944. The masonry of various facade surfaces was consequently renewed.
Description
The former water tower is constructed on an octagonal GROUND PLAN. The tower has a concrete skeleton structure tapering over five storeys and is crowned by an overhanging water reservoir with a gently sloping TENT ROOF. The concrete skeleton is filled with brick facade panels, in varying brick qualities, bond patterns and mortar joints. The tower is predominantly constructed in half-brick bond except for a cross bond in the facade plane around the entrance.
Steel entrance door under a segmental arch. Alternately across the storeys and in the facade planes around the reservoir, rectangular steel lamellar grilles are installed.
Beside the tower is a concrete clean water cellar.
In the INTERIOR of the water tower there is no leak-proof floor. The walkway around the water reservoir is accessible via an open stair structure which is attached to the facade wall.
Valuation
The former water tower with clean water cellar from 1925-1926 is of general significance because of:
- its age;
- its significance for the history of mining and for the history of water supply;
- the slender-graceful design, made possible by the application of the reinforced concrete skeleton, which is experienced in a striking manner (visible from a great distance) thanks to its elevated location;
- the reasonable degree of integrity.
