Inleiding.
Binnen het gehucht Uppel ligt een waardevolle groep van boerderijen. Nummer 17 ligt aan de noordzijde van de weg en bestaat uit een WOONHUIS, een buiten de bescherming vallende vrijstaande schuur en twee moderne schuren. Het woonhuis dat uit ca. 1880 dateert, is hoger gesitueerd en aan alle zijden omgeven door een glooiend gazon met oude bomen en een flinke haag als afscheiding van de weg en inrijweg naar de schuren. Het huis heeft elementen van het Eclecticisme. De serre dateert uit ca. 1930. De ramen zijn rond 1940-1950 vereenvoudigd.
Omschrijving.
Het tweelaags woonhuis op nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond is opgetrokken in kruisverband baksteen onder een plat dak met omlopend schild belegd met betonpannen. Op het dak een schoorsteen en centraal in de schilden kleine daklichten. De symmetrische voorgevel heeft een risalerend middendeel, een gepleisterde plint en dito geblokte hoekpilasters. De gevel is beëindigd met een geprofileerde kroonlijst met rijk geornamenteerde consoles die het onderliggende fries in vakken verdeelt. In de middenrisaliet ligt de ingang met paneeldeur binnen een omlijsting met verdiepte pilasters met een vlakke afsluiting ter hoogte van het kalf. Daarboven een conform de vensters ongedeeld licht met geprofileerde omlijsting met boven en over de segmentboog heen een kuif. Aan weerszijden van de ingang twee vensters, op de verdieping drie vensters met eenruitsschuiframen en ongedeelde lichten. Aan de oostelijke zijmuur ligt een serre onder plat dak met schilden en overstekende daklijst op geprofileerde consoles die tot de latei doorlopen. Boven de plint is het houten skelet dichtgezet met baksteen waarvoor diagonale houten kruisen zijn geplaatst. De tweeruitsvensters hebben boven en onder randen met kleine roedenverdeling en achtruitslichten tussen de consoles. De consoles onder de kroonlijst van het huis, die aan de erker en de kuiven boven de ramen zijn uitgevoerd in donkerrood.
Waardering.
Het huis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de ontwikkeling van de landbouw in de streek en vanwege de typologie van de villa-boerderij. Het bezit architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de esthetische kwaliteit van het ontwerp en de detaillering. Het heeft ensemblewaarde in samenhang met de omliggende tuin met hoge bomen en haag en als karakteristiek onderdeel van een waardevolle groep van boerderijen. Introduction.
Within the hamlet of Uppel lies a valuable group of farmhouses. Number 17 is situated on the north side of the road and consists of a DWELLING HOUSE, a detached barn outside the protected area and two modern barns. The dwelling house, which dates from ca. 1880, is positioned higher and is surrounded on all sides by sloping lawn with old trees and a substantial hedge as separation from the road and access drive to the barns. The house has elements of Eclecticism. The conservatory dates from ca. 1930. The windows were simplified around 1940-1950.
Description.
The two-storey dwelling house on an approximately square ground plan is built in English bond brickwork under a flat roof with surrounding hipped roof covered with concrete tiles. On the roof a chimney and centrally in the hips small roof lights. The symmetrical front facade has a projecting central section, a rendered plinth and likewise channelled corner pilasters. The facade is finished with a profiled cornice with richly ornamented consoles that divide the underlying frieze into sections. In the central risalit lies the entrance with a panel door within a surround with recessed pilasters with a flat finish at the level of the calf. Above it a conforming fanlight with profiled surround with above and over the segmental arch a hood. On either side of the entrance two windows, on the upper storey three windows with one-light sash windows and undivided lights. On the eastern side wall lies a conservatory under a flat roof with hips and overhanging eaves on profiled consoles that extend to the lintel. Above the plinth the wooden frame is infilled with brickwork for which diagonal wooden crosses have been placed. The two-light windows have above and below edges with small glazing bars and back-light casements between the consoles. The consoles under the cornice of the house, which are executed on the bay and the hoods above the windows in dark red.
Valuation.
The house is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as an example of the development of agriculture in the region and because of the typology of the villa-farmhouse. It possesses architectural-historical value because of the aesthetic quality of the design and the detailing. It has ensemble value in connection with the surrounding garden with tall trees and hedge and as a characteristic component of a valuable group of farmhouses. The house has been preserved in remarkably good condition in its main form and detailing and possesses rarity value.
