Inleiding
De STADSVILLA, gelegen in de gesloten straatwand van de Swalmerstraat, is gebouwd in Neo-Renaissance stijl XIXB.
Rechts in het pand loopt een poort door het gebouw naar de achtergevel.
Omschrijving
De STADSVILLA heeft een meervoudige plattegrond in twee bouwlagen onder een schilddak met niet originele Hollandse dakpannen en nokschoorsteen.
De VOORGEVEL bestaat uit vijf traveeën, waarvan de twee buitenste breder zijn dan de overige. De twee traveeën worden begrensd door lisenen. Het pand heeft een opstand van rode baksteen in koppenverband met diverse speklagen en een gecementeerde plint met kleine ventilatieroosters. Verder bevinden zich in de gevel diamantkoppen en een gootoverstek op geprofileerde consoles. In de gevel bevinden zich hoofdzakelijk dubbele vensters met geprofileerde stijl en bovenlicht. De vensters in de buitenste traveeën zijn driedelig. Onder de vensters zijn nissen met halve bollen. In de eerste bouwlaag bevindt zich rechts een poort met een originele vierdelige deur met panelen, bloktanden en fronton, onder een getoogd bovenlicht. Het gevelvlak met de poort risaleert. Tussen de eerste en tweede bouwlaag is een brede cordonlijst. De twee buitenste vensters in de tweede laag liggen onder een driehoekig fronton, de vensters daartussen onder een getoogd fronton. De rechter travee eindigt in een dakkapel met klauwstukken en een geprofileerde lijst onder een fronton. De zijkanten zijn bekleed met bitumen.
De ACHTERGEVELS hebben een opstand van baksteen in kruisverband.
In de gevels bevinden zich originele tweedelige kozijnen met bovenlicht, gedeeltelijk met dubbel glas, hardstenen dorpels.
Geheel links ligt de achtergevel terug, hier bevindt zich de achteruitgang van de poort. Deze heeft een vierdelige deur met geslepen glas-in-lood en een roedeverdeling. In de tweede laag bevindt zich een dubbel venster met bovenlicht.
Tegen de ZIJGEVEL tussen beide achtergevels is een klein portaal onder een dakschild vóór een entree geplaatst en een rookkanaal. In deze zijgevel bevindt zich nog een venster.
De rest van de ACHTERGEVEL bestaat uit vier traveeën en dubbele vensters en tuindeuren met getoogde bovenlichten, allen met dubbel glas. In het dakvlak is een dakraam geplaatst.
Geheel rechts is een volume van één laag met dubbele tuindeur onder een plat dak. Deze sluiten aan op een schuurtje ,et schilddak en een venster.
De achtertuin wordt omgeven door een TUINMUUR.
De STRUCTUUR van het INTERIEUR is in hoge mate in tact hetgeen blijkt uit de situering van gang, trappenhuis en kamers.
Het pand heeft rechts een poort die door het pand heen gaat, langs de entree tot de woning. Het pand bezit zeer rijke interieuronderdelen.
WAARDEVOLLE INTERIEURONDERDELEN zijn onder meer het interieur van de poort met nissen en pilasters, de voordeur met geslepen glas onder getoogd bovenlicht met hekwerk en de hal met diverse ornamenten, waaronder karyatiden, de originele gangtegels en lambrisering.
Waardering
De STADSVILLA aan de Swalmerstraat te Roermond bezit architectuurhistorsiche waarden vanwege het belang van het pand voor de geschiedenis van de architectuur, de hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp en vanwege het materiaalgebruik en rijke ornamentiek, met name in de voorgevel en het interieur. De ensemblewaarden van het pand worden bepaald door de betekenis van het object voor de situering in de Swalmerstraat en het pand is van bijzondere betekenis voor het aanzien van de stad Roermond. The TOWN VILLA, situated in the closed street facade of the Swalmerstraat, was built in Neo-Renaissance style second half of the 19th century.

The TOWN VILLA has a complex floor plan in two storeys under a hipped roof with non-original Dutch roof tiles and ridge chimney.
The FRONT FACADE consists of five bays, of which the two outer ones are broader than the remainder. The two bays are bounded by pilasters. The building has a facing of red brick in header bond with various courses of decorative brick and a cemented plinth with small ventilation grilles. Further, the facade contains diamond headers and a gutter overhang on moulded corbels. The facade contains mainly double windows with moulded stiles and fanlight. The windows in the outer bays are tripartite. Beneath the windows are niches with half domes. On the first storey on the right is a gateway with an original four-panel door with panels, block dentils and pediment, beneath an arched fanlight. The facade plane with the gateway projects. Between the first and second storey is a broad cordon moulding. The two outer windows on the second storey are beneath a triangular pediment, the windows between them beneath an arched pediment. The right bay ends in a roof dormer with curved braces and a moulded moulding beneath a pediment. The sides are clad with bitumen.
The REAR FACADES have a facing of brick in cross bond.
In the facades are original two-part frames with fanlight, partly with double glazing, hardstone sills.
Far to the left the rear facade recedes, here is located the rear exit of the gateway. This has a four-panel door with carved leaded glass and glazing bars. On the second storey is a double window with fanlight.
Against the SIDE FACADE between both rear facades a small portico beneath a roof cladding is placed in front of an entrance and a flue. In this side facade is another window.
The remainder of the REAR FACADE consists of four bays and double windows and garden doors with arched fanlights, all with double glazing. In the roof plane a roof light is placed.
Far to the right is a volume of one storey with double garden door beneath a flat roof. These adjoin a small shed with hipped roof and a window.
The rear garden is enclosed by a GARDEN WALL.
The STRUCTURE of the INTERIOR is intact to a high degree, as evidenced by the location of corridor, staircase and rooms.
The building has on the right a gateway which runs through the building, past the entrance to the dwelling. The building possesses very rich interior components.
VALUABLE INTERIOR COMPONENTS include among others the interior of the gateway with niches and pilasters, the front door with carved glass beneath an arched fanlight with ironwork and the hall with various ornaments, including caryatids, the original corridor tiles and wainscoting.
