Inleiding
De DIENSTWONING is in 1899 in Oldeberkoop gebouwd naar ontwerp van O.M. Meek in opdracht van E. Willinge Prins. De woning, met aan de Chaletstijl verwante elementen, is onderdeel van het complex waartoe voorts villa Vredewoud behoort.
Omschrijving
De tuinmanswoning is op L-vormige grondslag gebouwd. Het dak is samengesteld en bestaat uit een overstekend wolf- en zadeldak, met een goot op klampen. Het wolfeind wordt bekroond door een piron. De naar de voorzijde georiënteerde topgevel heeft een sierspant en een makelaar. Het dak is be-legd met zwarte en (enkele) rode geglazuurde kruispannen. Een gemetselde schoorsteen en een kleine dakkapel staan in het dakvlak. De geverfde houten deur met zijlichten in de voorgevel bevindt zich onder een doorgetrokken deel van het dakvlak. Het opgaand muurwerk bestaat uit bruine bakstenen. Rondom het pand zijn twee sierbanden van rode verblendsteen ter hoogte van de wissel- en bovendorpel van de vensters. Ter hoogte van de onderdorpel is een natuurstenen band. De topgevel heeft een cordonlijst vlak onder de gootklampen en een decoratief houten balkonnetje aan de geveltop. De kruisvensters en dubbele kruisvensters hebben glas-in-lood bovenlichten, afgesloten door segmentbogen met natuurstenen aanzetstenen. Aan de noordwestelijke zijgevel is een grote serre onder een plat dak.
Waardering
De tuinmanswoning, onderdeel van het complex villa Vredewoud en in 1899 in Oldeberkoop gerealiseerd naar ontwerp van O.M. Meek, is van belang:

The gardener's cottage is built on an L-shaped footprint. The roof is composite and consists of an overhanging half-hipped and gabled roof, with a gutter on corbels. The half-hipped end is crowned by a finial. The gable oriented towards the front has a decorative rafter and a barge board. The roof is laid with black and (some) red glazed cross tiles. A brick chimney and a small roof dormer stand in the roof plane. The painted wooden door with sidelights in the front facade is situated under a continuous section of the roof plane. The wall structure consists of brown brickwork. Around the building are two ornamental bands of red facing brick at the height of the quoin and lintel of the windows.
