Inleiding.
STOELENFABRIEK MERKELBACH, door de familie Merkelbach in 1864 opgericht in het centrum van Lieshout, op dezelfde plaats waar ook nu de stoelen vervaardigd worden. De oudste onderdelen van de fabriek dateren uit 1864. De productiehal met de sheddaken is rond 1890 gebouwd. De vier onderdelen zijn rond 1980 deels van binnen en buiten vernieuwd. Er zijn verschillende latere uitbreidingen, welke vanuit het oogpunt van monumentenzorg van ondergeschikt belang zijn.
Omschrijving.
De stoelenfabriek Merkelbach is een fabriekscomplex bestaande uit aan elkaar verbonden onderdelen parallel aan de straat. Geheel links een eenlaags gedeelte op rechthoekige plattegrond, onder een zadeldak met nok parallel aan de straat met oudhollandse dakpannen. Het handvorm baksteen gebouw heeft een tandlijst onder de daklijst. Zesruits schuifvensters, in de tweede as van links een paneeldeur met halfrond bovenlicht waarin sierroeden. Hieraan verbonden, maar eensteens naar voren verspringend is een anderhalflaags bouwdeel op rechthoekige plattegrond, eveneens onder zadeldak met nok parallel aan de straat en oudhollandse dakpannen, met tandlijst. Pand met gevels van handvorm baksteen en rechte steekankers. Vijf traveeën, met zesruitsschuifvensters en een vernieuwde paneeldeur met bovenlicht uiterst links. De zolderverdieping heeft vlak boven het vloerniveau tweeruits lichten. De linkergevel is blind, maar heeft net als de rechter zijgevel geschulpte houten windveren en gedecoreerde makelaar. Rechts drie vensters met kleine roedenverdeling en een vernieuwd rondlicht met een karrewiel. Op het dak twee bakstenen schoorstenen die met beschilderd zink zijn bekleed. Hierna volgt een eenlaags tussenlid onder plat dak met openschuivende garagedeur.
Vervolgens de voormalige productiehal, op rechthoekige grondslag en opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen. Dit deel heeft drie sheddaken en vervolgens een zadeldak, belegd met tuile-du-Nordpannen en golfplaten, met de nok haaks op de straat. De daklijst is voorzien van een muizetand- en een tandlijst. De drie delen met sheddak hebben elk een getoogd zesruits ijzeren raam. Tussen de daken zinken vergaarbak voor afvoer hemelwater. The Merkelbach chair factory is a factory complex consisting of interconnected components parallel to the street. On the far left a single-storey section on rectangular floor plan, under a gabled roof with ridge parallel to the street with old Dutch tiles. The handmade brick building has a dentil moulding below the roof line. Six-pane sash windows, in the second bay from the left a panel door with semicircular fanlight with decorative glazing bars. Connected to this, but stepping forward by one storey, is a one-and-a-half-storey building section on rectangular floor plan, also under a gabled roof with ridge parallel to the street and old Dutch tiles, with dentil moulding. Building with handmade brick facades and straight gauged quoins. Five bays, with six-pane sash windows and a renewed panel door with fanlight at the far left. The attic storey has two-pane lights immediately above floor level. The left gable is blank, but has like the right side gable carved wooden wind braces and decorated maklaar. On the right three windows with small glazing bars and a renewed round light with a cartwheel. On the roof two brick chimneys clad with painted zinc. This is followed by a single-storey intermediate section under a flat roof with sliding garage door.

This section has three shed roofs and subsequently a gabled roof, covered with Tuile-du-Nord tiles and corrugated sheets, with the ridge perpendicular to the street. The roof line is provided with a mouse-tooth and dentil moulding. The three sections with shed roof each have an arched six-pane iron window. Between the roofs zinc gutters for rainwater drainage. The adjoining section is built of wood, with wooden door and window. In the original gateway next to this the bolted gate door is still present, alongside a new sliding door.
