Inleiding
Het voormalige POSTKANTOOR met WOONHUIS is gesitueerd aan de westelijke zijde van de Wilhelminalaan. Het postkantoor werd in 1908 gebouwd en vertoont elementen van de chaletstijl. Het pand is heden in gebruik als kantoor annex café.
Omschrijving
Het gebouw heeft een globaal rechthoekige plattegrond en telt deels één, deels twee bouwlagen onder een samengesteld, overstekend schilddak met wolfeind, gedekt met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. Bakgoot op klossen. In het voordakschild twee driehoekige dakkapellen. Drie bakstenen schoorstenen met zadeldakje. De gevels van het pand zijn opgetrokken in baksteen, boven de begane grondverdieping gepleisterd. Onder het dak is houten vakwerk toegepast. Onder het gepleisterde gevelgedeelte een tandlijst. De topgevels zijn betimmerd.
In de voorgevel (oostgevel) geheel rechts een door een topgevel afgesloten hoekrisaliet. Ook het tweelaags bouwdeel risaleert en is op de rechterhoek voorzien van een naar boven toe verjongend steunbeerachtig element met natuurstenen basement en bekroning. Hierin de voormalige hoofdtoegang tot het postkantoor, gelegen in een ondiepe, door een rondboog geopende portiek. Dubbele ingangspartij met paneeldeuren en bovenlichten. De vertrekken zijn in het tweelaags woongedeelte voorzien van kruisvensters, met kleine roedenverdeling en kathedraalglas in de bovenlichten. De overige vertrekken zijn in de voorgevel voorzien van smalle rechtgesloten vensters. Bovenlichten met kleine roedenverdeling en kathedraalglas. Geheel rechts, in de hoekrisaliet, een voormalige tweede ingangspartij, later deels dichtgezet met moderne brievenbussen. Hierboven een drielichtsvenster met kleine roedenverdeling in de bovenlichten. In het midden van de voorgevel een natuurstenen brievenbus. Hierboven een tegeltableau met wapenschild.
In de noordgevel links een groot drielichtsvenster met boven- en onderlichten, in het midden een dakvenster, eveneens voorzien van een drielichtsvenster met boven- en onderlichten. Rechts een (moderne) dubbele deur met breed bovenlicht, waarin een kleine roedenverdeling.
De achtergevel geheel links een door een topgevel afgesloten hoekrisaliet. Hierin ter hoogte van de eerste verdieping een venster met kleine roedenverdeling. Rechts hiervan tuindeuren met zij- en bovenlichten, waarin kleine roedenverdeling. Rechts hiervan een aanbouw onder plat van recentere bouwdatum. In de achtergevel van het woongedeelte kruisvensters met kathedraalglas in de bovenlichten. In het midden, vlak onder de dakgoot een tweeruits venster. Links boven de achtergevel van de woning een dakvenster, waarin een kruisvormig samenstel van vier kleine vensters.

Het postkantoor is van algemeen belang. Het object bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere illustratie van de ontwikkeling van de posterijen rond de eeuwwisseling. The building has a roughly rectangular floor plan and comprises partly one, partly two storeys under a composite, overhanging hipped roof with half-hipped end, covered with improved Dutch tiles. The walls of the building are constructed in brick, rendered above the ground floor. Half-timbering in wood has been used under the roof. Below the rendered wall section a denticulated string course.
