Inleiding
WINKELHUIS in Eclectische stijl uit ca. 1890 met pui in Neo-Renaissancestijl. Ontwerp van de architectencombinatie P.A.
Oomes en L. van der Pas. Het huis ligt op een rechthoekig perceel met de voorgevel aan de lintbebouwde Haagweg. Rechts vrijstaand en links leunend tegen het naastgelegen pand.
Omschrijving
Tweelaags huis onder afgeplat schilddak belegd met grijze kruispannen.
Het pand is opgetrokken uit rode handgevormde baksteen gemetseld in staand verband. De vier traveeën brede voorgevel heeft een natuurstenen basement, cordonlijst, cementen speklagen, fries met siermetselwerk en gekorniste kroonlijst op gesneden gootklossen. De segmentbogen van de muuropeningen hebben aanzet- en sluitstenen. Houten T-ramen. De risalerende linker helft van de voorgevel bevat op de begane grond een rijk bewerkte in hout gesneden winkelpui, gevat tussen natuurstenen pilasters met kroonlijst en fries en in de bovenlichten veelkleurig glas-in-lood. Bij de voordeur een radvormig bovenlicht met gedraaide glasroeden en in de winkelpui een zevendelig bovenlicht met rondboogjes. In het fries van de pui en in de boogvelden van de vensters Art Nouveau tegelwerk.
Interieur grotendeels gaaf. Houten balkplafonds in schoonwerk.
Paneeldeuren. Geblokt blauw-wit tegelwerk in de keuken.

Het winkelhuis is van algemeen belang. SHOP HOUSE in Eclectic style from c. 1890 with shopfront in Neo-Renaissance style. Design by the architect partnership P.A. Oomes and L. van der Pas. The house is situated on a rectangular plot with the front facade on the ribbon-developed Haagweg. Right-hand side detached and left-hand side leaning against the adjacent building.
Description
Two-storey house under hipped roof covered with grey interlocking tiles.
The building is constructed from red hand-formed brick laid in stretcher bond. The four-bay wide front facade has a natural stone basement, cordon moulding, cement bands, frieze with decorative masonry and corniced cornice on carved gutter brackets. The segmental arches of the wall openings have setting stones and keystones. Wooden T-windows. The projecting left half of the front facade contains on the ground floor a richly worked wooden carved shopfront, set between natural stone pilasters with cornice and frieze and in the fanlights multicoloured stained glass. At the front door a radial fanlight with turned glass panes and in the shopfront a seven-part fanlight with rounded arches. In the frieze of the shopfront and in the arch fields of the windows Art Nouveau tilework.
Interior largely intact. Wooden beam ceilings in fair-faced work.
Panel doors. Patterned blue-white tilework in the kitchen.

The shop house is of general importance. It has architectural historical values, among other things because of the exceptionally well-preserved shopfront: it is of particular importance as a representative example of the oeuvre of the architect partnership P.A.
