Inleiding
BENZINESTATION "de Driesprong" uit 1934 in de stijl van het Nieuwe Bouwen, ontwerp van architect A. Meylink (Vught). Het station is gebouwd door de "N.V. Maatschappij tot exploiteren van Benzinelaadstations" (Vught). Deze maatschappij maakte onderdeel uit van de Steenkolen Handelsvereniging N.V., gevestigd aan de Rijnkade 1 te Utrecht. De eerste huurder was "N.V. Brabant Service Station" (Vught).
Oorspronkelijk werd aan de pomp Shell-benzine verkocht, later werd dit Caltex, Pam en Texaco.
Het benzinestation ligt zeer strategisch in de binnenbocht op de westelijke kop van de vroeg negentiende-eeuwse straatweg (Napoleonsweg), tussen Breda en Tilburg op de driesprong naar Teteringen en Oosterhout. De kenmerkende vijfhoekige plattegrond van de kern van het benzinestation is een afgeleide van het vijfhoekige perceel, dat in latere jaren werd vergroot tot de huidige vorm. In 1963 en in 1978 werd het benzinestation aan de zuidwestkant uitgebreid met een werkplaats/garage.
Omschrijving
Het benzinestation heeft een vijfhoekige kern met glazen puien, onder een brede, overstekende witgestucte luifel op slanke kolommen. Het opgaande werk bestaat uit een beton- en staalskelet met kolommen en in de kern een vulling van baksteen. De binnenruimte heeft een glazen buitenwand, gevat in houten kozijnen.
Aan drie kanten van het station, wordt de buitenruimte gevormd door een rondgaand terras, afgepaald door acht ronde kolommen, die de drieënhalve meter overstekende luifel dragen. Het terras heeft een zwart betegelde vloer.
Interieur en de glazen buitenwand van het benzinestation zijn gewijzigd.

Het benzinestation is van algemeen belang. PETROL STATION "de Driesprong" from 1934 in the style of the New Building, designed by architect A. Meylink (Vught). The station was built by the "N.V.
