Inleiding
HERENHUIS uit 1863-64 in Classicistische stijl. Gebouwd voor de heer A. Bevers op trapeziumvormig perceel in de directe nabijheid van de St. Martinuskerk in het centrum van Princenhage.
Voordien stonden op deze plaats twee huizen. Bij de bouw in 1863 is een gedeelte van de fundering van deze huizen hergebruikt.
Het vrijliggende huis ligt op de noordwest-kop van de lintbebouwde Dreef met voor- of noordoostgevel op de perceelsgrens.
Het huis heeft vensters in de rechterzijgevel met uitzicht op de Haagse Markt.
Omschrijving
Het symmetrische huis op rechthoekige plattegrond heeft twee bouwlagen met een schilddak gedekt met grijze Oudhollandse pannen. De voorgevel is vijf traveeën breed en de zijgevel twee.
Het opgaande werk bestaat uit gepleisterde baksteen uitgevoerd als blokverband waarin muuropeningen, voorzien van geprofileerde stuclijsten en hardstenen lekdorpels. De gevels hebben verder een basement, cordonlijst en gekorniste kroonlijst met tand en fries, hoekpilasters en middenrisaliet. Bovenlicht bij voordeur met gietijzeren levensboom. Op de begane grond zesruits schuifvensters met luiken en op de verdieping T-vormige schuifvensters. Op de nok van het dak twee hoekschoorstenen.
Inwendig onder meer stucplafonds, houten paneeldeuren en marmeren schoorsteenmantels.

Het herenhuis is van algemeen belang. Introduction
GENTLEMAN'S HOUSE from 1863-64 in Classical style. Built for Mr A. Bevers on a trapezoidal plot in the immediate vicinity of the St. Martinuskerk in the centre of Princenhage.
Previously two houses stood on this site. During construction in 1863 a part of the foundation of these houses was reused.
The detached house is situated at the north-west corner of the ribbon development along the Dreef with front or north-east facade on the plot boundary.
The house has windows in the right-hand side facade with a view of the Haagse Markt.
Description
The symmetrical house on a rectangular plan has two storeys with a hipped roof covered with grey old Dutch tiles. The front facade is five bays wide and the side facade two bays.
The fabric consists of plastered brick executed in stretcher bond in which wall openings, provided with moulded stucco lintels and stone drip moulds. The facades further have a basement, cornice line and moulded cornice with dentil and frieze, corner pilasters and a central projection. Fanlight at front door with cast-iron living tree. On the ground floor six-pane sash windows with shutters and on the upper storey T-shaped sash windows. On the ridge of the roof two corner chimneys.
Internally among other things stucco ceilings, wooden panelled doors and marble chimney mantels.
