Inleiding
SEINHUISJE behorend tot het stationscomplex Simpelveld.
Datering XX a. De toegepaste bouwstijl is traditionalistisch.
Op het complexterrein bevinden zich twee seinhuisjes. Dit seinhuisje betreft de zgn. Post II.
De bedieningsinstallatie met seinen, kabels en kabelgeleidingen en wissels is eveneens beschermd.
Omschrijving
Seinhuisje op een rechthoekige plattegrond. Het gebouwtje telt een bouwlaag plus souterrainverdieping en wordt afgedekt met een houten plat dak. De souterrainverdieping is uitgevoerd in Kunradersteen, de eerste bouwlaag in hout. Rechthoekige houten vensters en deur.
VOORGEVEL met in souterrainverdieping twee vensters met roedeverdeling. Aan de benedenzijde van de vensters een kleine deels open uitbouw ten behoeve van het bedieningssysteem. In de eerste bouwlaag vijf vensters waarvan een driedelig. Aan de rechterzijgevel een metalen toegangstrap naar de deur in de eerste bouwlaag. In de linkerzijgevel in de souterrainverdieping een rechthoekig luik. In de eerste bouwlaag twee vensters.
INTERIEUR met authentiek mechanisch beveiligingsysteem met bloktoestellen en hendelinrichting ten behoeve van de armseinen en wissels.
Bedieningsinstallaties, seinen, kabels en kabelgeleidingen en wissels zijn eveneens beschermenswaardig.
Waardering
Het seinhuisje Post II met bedieningsinstallaties, seinen, kabels en kabelgeleidingen en wissels bezit als onderdeel van het stationscomplex Simpelveld cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van een technische en typologische ontwikkeling. Het geheel biedt voor de geschiedenis van de techniek een complete documentatie waardoor kennis van en inzicht in een hoofdstuk van de spoorweggeschiedenis wordt afgeschaft hetgeen een algemeen belang vertegenwoordigt. Het seinhuisje bezit architectuurhistorische waarden wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de samenhang tussen ex- en interieur. Ensemblewaarde bezit het geheel als essentieel onderdeel van het grotere stationscomplex met station, watertoren en overige infrastructuur. Het seinhuisje is tenslotte van belang wegens de redelijke mate van architectonische gaafheid van ex- en interieur en de bouwtechnische, typologische en functionele zeldzaamheid.

Signal box on a rectangular ground plan. The small building comprises one storey plus basement storey and is covered with a wooden flat roof. The basement storey is executed in Kunrade stone, the first storey in wood. Rectangular wooden windows and door.
FRONT FACADE with in the basement storey two windows with glazing bars. At the bottom of the windows a small partly open outbuilding for the operating system.
