Inleiding
Tegenover Oude Zijds Voorburgwal 193 en vanaf de walkant vanuit het water omhoog rijzend in 1926 tot stand gekomen URINOIR naar een ontwerp in Amsterdamse School-stijl van de voormalige dienst der Publieke Werken in de gemeente Amsterdam. Het beeld is gemaakt door Hildo Krop. Het beeldhouwwerk stelt (verwijzend naar de eveneens in 1926 tot stand gekomen tegenover gelegen nieuwe vleugel van het raadhuis door Nico Lansdorp) aan de voorzijde een volksredenaar voor.
Omschrijving
Op een stalen voetplaat (recent vernieuwd) en een natuurstenen sokkel gerealiseerde 'krul' met een daarboven aangebracht maaswerk van baksteen en afgedekt door een overkragend rond en plat dak. De walmuur links van de ingang is voorzien van een klein boogfries. Het beeldhouwwerk boven de walmuur is van grijze hardsteen en meet 115 cm. Aan de zijde van de ingang is een man geprojecteerd met gebalde rechtervuist en geopende mond; aan de andere zijde verschillende koppen met eveneens geopende monden.
Waardering
Tegenover het voormalige raadhuis gelegen urinoir van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als representatief voorbeeld van door Publieke Werken in Amsterdamse School-stijl vormgegeven straatmeubilair. Eveneens van belang vanwege het beeldhouwwerk van Hildo Krop. Van typologisch belang en zeldzaamheidswaarde.

Opposite Oude Zijds Voorburgwal 193 and rising from the water's edge, a URINAL constructed in 1926 after a design in Amsterdam School style by the former Public Works department of the municipality of Amsterdam. Description
A 'curl' realized on a steel base plate (recently renewed) and a natural stone plinth, with a brickwork tracery applied above and covered by an overhanging round and flat roof. The wall on the left of the entrance is provided with a small arch frieze. The sculptural work above the wall is of grey hard stone and measures 115 cm. On the side of the entrance a man is depicted with a clenched right fist and an open mouth; on the other side various heads also with open mouths.
