Inleiding
In 1877-'78 tot stand gekomen TEHUIS naar ontwerp van P.J. Hamer in eclectische trant in opdracht van de Magdalena Hodsonstichting. Het gebouw bevond zich in de tuin van het voormalige Oude Mannen- en Vrouwenhuis van de Nederduits Hervormde Diaconie. In het middenhuis bevonden zich een suppoostenwoning en vier eenkamerwoningen op de verdiepingen; in de lagere zijvleugels acht woningen voor bejaarde echtparen. N.B. Vanaf 1975 tot 1995 in gebruik als tehuis voor verpleegsters behorende bij het Amstelhof.
Omschrijving
Op een U-vormige plattegrond tot stand gekomen tehuis voor bejaarden bestaande uit een drie bouwlagen tellend middenpaviljoen en met twee lagere zijvleugels aan weerszijden. Het gebouw is opgetrokken in baksteen onder een samenstel van schilddaken met zwarte pannen. Op de nokhoeken een spitsvormige bekroning. Horizontale geleding door natuurstenen cordonlijsten. Het middenpaviljoen telt drie vensterassen, onderverdeeld door geblokte pilasters. De middelste vensteras doorbreekt het omlopende fries en de eveneens omlopende kroonlijst op sierconsoles en eindigt in een trapgevel. Vensters met kruiskozijnen aan bovenzijde voorzien van brede natuurstenen dorpels met aan weerszijden muurankers in de vorm van een Latijns kruis. Rechthoekige ingang.
