Inleiding
Een in 1914-1915 tot stand gekomen PAKHUIS met KANTOOR. Gebouwd in opdracht van de firma Feldmann & Co. als tabaksmagazijn met kantoren naar een ontwerp van de architect W. Noorlander in de stijl van het rationalisme. De kantoren, de monsterkamer en de ontvangstruimte voor de cliëntèle bevonden zich op de eerste verdieping. Voorgevel aan de Oude Zijds Voorburgwal. Linker-zijgevel aan de Duivensteeg; rechter-zijgevel aan de Schoutensteeg.
Omschrijving
Op een rechthoekig grondplan tot stand gekomen gebouw met vier bouwlagen boven het maaiveld, onder samengesteld schilddak. Verlaging in de bouwmassa aan de Schoutensteeg; aldaar gedeeltelijk één bouwlaag. Gemetselde gevels en gebruik van natuursteen bij de voorgevel in sokkel, plint en lijstwerk en ornament. Schuinopgaande dakschilden gedekt met rode pannen. Voorgevel maakt boven de eerste verdieping een voorsprong. Gevelbeëindiging met twee gekoppelde toppen. In de natuurstenen sokkel zowel aan de linker- als aan de rechterzijde een brede en getoogde toegang voor goederen. Dubbele houten deur met geleed licht. Tussen deze toegang een serie van vier rondboogvensters met traliewerk. Geheel links en rechts een getoogde toegang voor personen. In de sokkel geprofileerd en omlopend lijstwerk. Verder geblokte sierlijst met tegelwerk en decoratief fries met geometrische ornamenten in vlak reliëf. Bij de vensters geprofileerde verjongingen. Cordonlijst met blokmotief. Eerste verdieping aan de linkerzijde een rechthoekige erker met natuurstenen basement en consoles. Tussen de consoles decoratief reliëfwerk. Smalle vensters en hoge dubbele openslaande hijsdeuren met bovenlichten. Aan weerszijden van de erker een klein zesruits geleed venster. Eerste verdieping aan de rechterzijde driezijdig uitgebouwde erker met natuurstenen kwartronde zuilen en basement met consoles. In het midden een groot kruisvenster met meerruits geleed bovenlicht. Aan de schuingeplaatse zijden van de erker bevinden zich smalle vensters. Aan weerszijden van de erker een smal venster met zesruits geleed bovenlicht. Decoratief vertikaal reliëfwerk en hoge, getrapte consoles. Hierop rust een brede en uitkragende gevellijst waarboven de voorsprong van de bovengelegen verdiepingen. Op de tweede verdieping zijn de oorspronkelijke hijsdeuren aan de linker- en rechterzijde recent verwijderd. Tussen beide partijen een serie van vier gekoppelde vensters met natuurstenen dorpels en posten. Nabij de hoeken van de gevel nog een enkel venster met natuurstenen beneden- en bovendorpel. Enkele ornamenten en ondersteuning van de vlaggemast. Op de hoek een risalering met getrapte onderzijde. De derde verdieping heeft een vergelijkbare opbouw. Oorspronkelijke dubbele hijsdeuren met kleine lichten. De verdeling van de vensters is overeenkomstig die van de tweede verdieping. Vensters nu minder hoog. Building erected on a rectangular ground plan with four storeys above ground level, with a composite hipped roof. Setback in the building mass on the Schoutensteeg; there partially one storey. On either side of the oriole window a narrow window with six-light glazed fanlight. Decorative vertical relief work and tall, stepped corbels. On this rests a broad and projecting facade band above which the projection of the storeys above. On the second storey the original hoist doors on the left and right sides were recently removed. Between both sections a series of four coupled windows with natural stone sills and mullions. Near the corners of the facade yet another single window with natural stone lower and upper sill.
