Omschrijving
Op de hoek van Recht Boomssloot en Korte Koningsdwarsstraat in 1929-1930 tot stand gekomen LAGERE SCHOOL op christelijke basis, genaamd de Jan de Liefde-school, naar een ontwerp in Late Amsterdamse School-stijl van A. Ingwersen in opdracht van de Vereniging tot Heil des Volks bij monde van plaatsvervangend voorzitter M. Lasthuis. De gewapend betonwerken zijn uitgevoerd door G. Lotgerink.
N.B In 1977 veranderd in buurthuis 'De Boomspijker' door architectenbureau Joh. Nust BNA.
Omschrijving
Op een samengesteld rechthoekig grondplan in baksteen opgetrokken schoolgebouw bestaande uit drie bouwlagen en een kapverdieping. Het gebouw bestaat in feite uit twee tegen elkaar geplaatste bouwvolumen: een langwerpig deel onder een schuinoplopend plat dak met op de hoek met de Korte Koningsdwarsstraat een dwars daarop geplaatst en tevens hoger opgetrokken bouwdeel met puntgevel onder een zadeldak, beide bedekt met zwarte pannen. Aan de rechterzijde is het gebouw voorzien van een boven de goothoogte uitkragend muurvlak met schoorsteen. Aan de voorzijde is de gevel voorzien van twee over meerdere verdiepingen lopende erkers met grote verticaal geplaatste laddervormige vensters met glas-in-lood, doorlopend om de hoeken. Boven de twee erkers elk een door de overkragende gootlijst brekend venster met onderverdeling. Gelijkstraats en op de verdiepingen in het middenvlak vertonen zich kleine meest per drieën gekoppelde vensters waarboven door het muurvlak snijdende horizontaal geplaatste en door roeden veelvuldig in ruitjes onderverdeelde bovenlichten, sommige nog voorzien van glas-in-lood. De zijgevel aan de Korte Koningsdwarsstraat is eveneens voorzien van bijzonder gevormde en door roeden veelvuldig onderverdeelde vensters. Op de hoek bevindt zich een gemetselde en hoog boven de gootlijst doorlopende schoorsteen.
De achtergevel is voorzien van regelmatig geplaatste grote vensters.

Voormalige Jan de Liefde-school van algemeen belang vanwege cultuurhistorische waarde en wegens het belang van het object als bijzondere uiting van een sociaal-culturele ontwikkeling alsmede van belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarden en de bouwstijl met bijzondere detaillering.

On the corner of Recht Boomssloot and Korte Koningsdwarsstraat completed in 1929-1930 PRIMARY SCHOOL on a Christian basis, named the Jan de Liefde school, designed in Late Amsterdam School style by A. Description
On a composite rectangular plan erected in brick a school building consisting of three storeys and a roof storey. The building in fact consists of two building volumes placed against each other: an elongated section under a sloping flat roof with at the corner with Korte Koningsdwarsstraat a section placed transversely across it and also constructed higher with a pointed gable under a gabled roof, both covered with black tiles. On the right side the building has a wall plane projecting above the eaves height with a chimney. On the front the gable has two oriels running across several storeys with large vertically placed ladder-like windows with stained glass, running around the corners. Above the two oriels each a window with subdivision breaking through the projecting eaves line. At street level and on the storeys in the central section small windows mostly coupled in threes appear with above them horizontally placed windows breaking through the wall plane and divided abundantly with glazing bars into small panes, some still fitted with stained glass. The side gable on Korte Koningsdwarsstraat is likewise fitted with specially shaped windows divided abundantly with glazing bars. On the corner there is a built-up chimney running high above the eaves line.
The rear gable is fitted with regularly placed large windows.

Former Jan de Liefde school of general importance on account of cultural-historical value and on account of the importance of the object as a particular expression of a socio-cultural development as well as important on account of the architectural-historical values and the building style with special detailing.
