Inleiding
In 1906 door de afdeling Bruggen van de toenmalige dienst der Publieke Werken in de gemeente Amsterdam in een - in weerwil van het bouwjaar - laat negentiende-eeuwse trant tot stand gekomen enkele OPHAALBRUG met één doorvaart. De brug (brugnummer 278) overspant de Nieuwe Herengracht en ligt op het Kadijksplein.
Omschrijving
Landhoofden van baksteen en natuursteen. Het val bestaat uit stalen randliggers en een gedeeltelijk houten brugdek. Staal geklonken hameipoort en balans met vakwerk. Stalen bewegingswerk in de vorm van kwadranten. Stalen hefkabels. Brughekken aan eenvoudige hoofdbalusters. Balustrade van smeedijzer en een (qua vormgeving achttiende-eeuws aandoende) balustrade van gietijzer op vast gedeelte en walkanten.
Waardering
Enkele ophaalbrug uit 1906 met één doorvaart van architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de esthetische kwaliteit van het ontwerp alsmede van belang voor het aanzien van de stad.

Introduction

Description
Abutments of brick and natural stone. The movable span consists of steel edge beams and a partly wooden bridge deck. Steel riveted hameipoort and balance with lattice work. Steel motion mechanism in the form of quadrants. Steel lift cables. Bridge gates with simple principal balusters. Balustrade of wrought iron and a (in its design appearing eighteenth-century) balustrade of cast iron on fixed part and wharves.

Single bascule bridge from 1906 with one waterway of architectural-historical value because of the aesthetic quality of the design as well as of importance for the appearance of the city.
