Inleiding
In 1921 tot stand gekomen vaste PLAAT- of BALKBRUG met drie doorvaarten naar een ontwerp in Amsterdamse School-stijl van P.L. Kramer in opdracht van de afdeling Bruggen van de toenmalige dienst der Publieke Werken in de gemeente Amsterdam. Het beeldhouwwerk was al in 1916 ontworpen door Hildo Krop en uitgevoerd door de firma Johan Polet. De brug (brugnummer 68) overspant de Prinsengracht en ligt in de Leidsestraat.
Omschrijving
Vaste verkeersbrug met landhoofden en pijlers van baksteen en natuursteen. De bakstenen vleugels zijn uitgevoerd in horizontaal getrapte vorm (waarin in metselwerk een siermotief is opgenomen) met aan de onderzijde bij de waterlijn blokjes van natuursteen, gedekt door gebeeldhouwde afdekplaten van grijs graniet met voorstellingen van een fabeldier (4x). Pijlers in verticaal getrapte vorm, overgaand in uitkragingen van natuursteen. Stalen randliggers met geprofileerde afdeklijst. Balustrade van siersmeedwerk, vastgezet op de afdeklijst en de uitkragingen.

In 1921 a fixed PLATE or BEAM BRIDGE with three navigable spans came into being, designed in Amsterdam School style by P.L. Kramer on behalf of the Bridges department of the then Public Works service in the municipality of Amsterdam. The sculptural work was already designed in 1916 by Hildo Krop and executed by the firm Johan Polet. The bridge (bridge number 68) spans the Prinsengracht and is located in the Leidsestraat.
Description
Fixed traffic bridge with abutments and piers of brick and natural stone. The brick wings are executed in horizontally stepped form (in which a decorative motif is incorporated in masonry) with at the underside at the waterline small blocks of natural stone, covered by carved coping plates of grey granite depicting a fabulous creature (4x). Piers in vertically stepped form, passing into cantilevers of natural stone. Steel edge beams with profiled coping list.
