Inleiding
In 1921 als gevolg van een verbouwing tot stand gekomen vaste PLAAT- of BALKBRUG met drie doorvaarten, genoemd Koningssluis, naar een ontwerp in Amsterdamse School-stijl van P.L. Kramer in opdracht van de afdeling Bruggen van de toenmalige dienst der Publieke Werken in de gemeente Amsterdam. Het beeldhouwwerk werd al in 1916 ontworpen door Hildo Krop en uitgevoerd door de firma Johan Polet. De brug (brugnummer 29) overspant de Herengracht en verbindt het Koningsplein met de Leidsestraat.
Omschrijving
Vaste plaatbrug met drie doorvaarten. Landhoofden en pijlers van baksteen en natuursteen. Vleugels van baksteen in horizontaal getrapte vorm (waarin een gemetseld motief is opgenomen) met aan de onderzijde bij de waterlijn blokjes natuursteen, gedekt met gebeeldhouwde natuurstenen afdekplaten. De pijlers in aanzicht in verticaal getrapte vorm overgaand in uitkragingen van natuursteen. Rechte stalen randliggers. Sierbalustrade van smeedijzer vastgezet op de afdeklijst en de uitkragingen. Beeldhouwwerk voorstellende een fabeldier (4x).
Waardering
Vaste plaat- of balkbrug uit 1921, genoemd Koningssluis en voorzien van beeldhouwwerk van Hildo Krop, naar een ontwerp in Amsterdamse School-stijl van P.L. In 1921, as a result of a renovation, a fixed PLATE or BEAM BRIDGE with three navigable spans came into being, named Koningssluis, designed in Amsterdam School style by P.L.
