Inleiding
In 1922 als gevolg van een verbouwing tot stand gekomen vaste PLAAT- of BALKBRUG naar een ontwerp in Amsterdamse School-stijl van P.L. Kramer in opdracht van de afdeling Bruggen van de toenmalige dienst der Publieke Werken in de gemeente Amsterdam. De brug (brugnummer 41) overspant de Keizersgracht en ligt in de Vijzelstraat.
Omschrijving
Vaste plaatbrug met drie doorvaarten. Landhoofden van baksteen met beeldhouwwerk van natuursteen. Vleugels van baksteen met metselwerk in specifiek verband en segmentbogen aan de onderzijde, rustend op tot onder de waterlijn doorlopende blokken natuursteen. De vleugels zijn op de uiteinden verzwaard met gedecoreerde pylonen van natuursteen waarop gebeiteld SPQA (Senatus Populus Que Amstelodamensis = De Senaat en het Volk van Amsterdam). Pijlers in getrapte en gedecoreerde vorm van natuursteen en baksteen. Stalen randliggers met geprofileerde afdeklijst. Decoratieve smeedijzeren balustrade.

In 1922 as a result of a conversion, a fixed PLATE or BEAM BRIDGE was realised according to a design in Amsterdam School style by P.L. Kramer on behalf of the Bridges department of the then Public Works service in the municipality of Amsterdam. The bridge (bridge number 41) spans the Keizersgracht and is located in the Vijzelstraat.
Description
Fixed plate bridge with three spans. Abutments of brick with sculptural work of natural stone. Wings of brick with masonry in specific bond and segmental arches on the underside, resting on blocks of natural stone extending to below the water line. The wings are reinforced at the ends with decorated pylons of natural stone on which is chiselled SPQA (Senatus Populus Que Amstelodamensis = The Senate and People of Amsterdam). Piers in stepped and decorated form of natural stone and brick. Steel edge beams with profiled cover trim. Decorative wrought iron balustrade.
