Inleiding
Een tussen 1926-1927 gebouwd BEDRIJSFSATELIER, nabij de hoofdvestiging op de hoek van Leidsestraat en Keizersgracht, met winkels en een woning van Liberty naar een ontwerp in een Expressionistische en Amsterdamse School-stijl van H.A. van Anrooy in opdracht van de fa. Metz & Co. De uitvoerder was B.C. Stein.
Omschrijving
Op een nagenoeg rechthoekige plattegrond deels in gele baksteen en beton opgetrokken bedrijfspand op een deels natuurstenen plint bestaande uit een begane grond, en vier verdiepingen onder een rechte gootlijst met zadeldak. Op de begane grond drie ingangen van verschillend formaat en afmetingen. De ingang van nr.45 (meest links) bestaat uit een rondboogportiek en wordt geaccentueerd door drie - door middel van afwijkend metselverband - rondom het portiek aangebrachte banden. De ingang van nr.47 bestaat eveneens uit een rondboogportiek, doch deze is kleiner van formaat en wordt geaccentueerd door een rond het portiek aangebrachte natuurstenen band. De roedenverdeling van deuren en vensters is bij nr.47 nog oorspronkelijk. De ingang van nr.49 is rechthoekig.
De eerste verdieping heeft boven de ingang van nr.45 een uit ijzer opgetrokken erker onder een met bronsplaat bekleed puntdakje. Boven de ingang van nr.47 een vierkant venster waarvan de roedenverdeling niet meer oorspronkelijk is. Boven de ingang van nr.49 bevindt zich een smalle horizontale vensterstrook met glazen bouwstenen. Op nr.49 vanaf de tweede verdieping tot onder de gootlijst een smalle verticale vensterstrook met ramen van draadglas. Links daarnaast, de verdiepingen doorsnijdend, twee boven elkaar geplaatste rondboogvormige vensters met balcon en ijzeren balustrade. Op het dak, nog steeds boven nr.49, een decoratieve vlaggemasthouder.
Boven de nrs. 45 en 47, vanaf de tweede verdieping tot onder de daklijst, wordt de gevel onderbroken door een groot vlak met door verticaal en horizontaal geplaatste betonnen roeden onderverdeelde vensters. Direct boven de daklijst vier ovaalvormige bekroningen.

Description
Constructed on a substantially rectangular plan partly in yellow brick and concrete, a business building on a partly natural stone plinth consisting of a ground floor and four storeys beneath a straight gutter line with gabled roof. On the ground floor three entrances of varying size and dimensions. The entrance at no.45 (furthest left) consists of a round-arched portico and is accentuated by three bands applied around the portico by means of varying bond pattern. The entrance at no.47 likewise consists of a round-arched portico, but this is smaller in format and is accentuated by a natural stone band applied around the portico. The glazing bars of doors and windows at no.47 are still original. The entrance at no.49 is rectangular.
The first storey has above the entrance at no.45 a wrought-iron oriel beneath a pointed roof covered with bronze plate. Above the entrance at no.47 a square window whose glazing bars are no longer original. Above the entrance at no.49 there is a narrow horizontal window strip with glass bricks. On no.49 from the second storey to below the gutter line a narrow vertical window strip with frames of wired glass. Immediately to the left of this, intersecting the storeys, two round-arched windows placed one above the other with balcony and iron balustrade. On the roof, still above no.49, a decorative flagpole holder.
Above nos. 45 and 47, from the second storey to below the eaves line, the facade is interrupted by a large plane with windows subdivided by vertically and horizontally placed concrete glazing bars. Directly above the eaves line four oval-shaped cresting.
Valuation
Former workshop building of general importance on account of architectural-historical value on account of the high-quality aesthetics of the facade design. Moreover of value as a functional component of the already registered as national monument main establishment of Metz & Co. at the corner of Leidsestraat and Keizersgracht.
