Inleiding
Een door de fa. L.J. Enthoven & Co. uit 's-Gravenhage in brons gegoten levensgroot STANDBEELD, voorstellende J.R. Thorbecke (1798-1872), naar een naturalistisch ontwerp van F.K. Leenhoff uit 1874. Het sokkelontwerp is eveneens van Leenhoff. Op 18 mei 1876 werd het monument plechtig onthuld.
Omschrijving
Bronzen standbeeld op bronzen grondplaat voorstellende de staatsman J.R. Thorbecke ten voeten uit, geplaatst op een grote natuurstenen sokkel. Het geheel rust op een natuurstenen stylobaat en wordt omringd door een decoratief smeedijzeren hek.
Opschriften: In de bronzen grondplaat, aan de rechterzijde (O): 'F. Leenhoff sclp. 1875'. Aan de linkerzijde (W): 'L.I. Enthoven & Co, 's Hage 1875'.
Op de sokkel aan de voorzijde (Z): 'THORBECKE'. Aan de achterzijde (N): 'Hoogleeraar, LID der STATEN GENERAAL, MINISTER van BINNENLANDSCHE ZAKEN, GEBOREN ZWOLLE 14 JANUARI 1798, OVERLEDEN 'SGRAVENHAGE 4 JUNI 1872'.
