Inleiding
In 1877 over de zich versmallende Hortusvijver aan de westzijde aangelegde vaste BRUG (met brugnummer 233) ter verbinding van de Nieuwe Herengracht en de vroegere overtuin van de Hortus Botanicus. De brug, waarover het Dr. D.M. Sluyspad loopt, is ook bekend als 'westelijke Hortusbrug'. De brug maakt onderdeel uit van het complex Hortus Botanicus
Omschrijving
Vaste boogbrug bestaande uit spanten en bruglichaam op gemetselde landhoofden met gietijzeren balusterleuningen en een brugdek van klinkers. De leuningen zijn geplaatst tussen vierkante geprofileerde pijlers met triglief en een bolvorm als bekroning. De doorvaarthoogte is op + 0.76 m NAP.

Introduction
In 1877 a fixed BRIDGE (with bridge number 233) built across the narrowing Hortusvijver on the west side to connect the Nieuwe Herengracht and the former outer garden of the Hortus Botanicus. The bridge, over which the Dr. D.M. Sluyspad runs, is also known as the 'western Hortusbrug'. The bridge forms part of the Hortus Botanicus complex.
Description
Fixed arch bridge consisting of spans and bridge structure on brick abutments with cast-iron baluster railings and a bridge deck of clinker bricks. The railings are placed between square profiled pillars with triglyphs and a bulbous form as crowning. The clearance height is at +0.76 m NAP.
Valuation
Hortusbrug of general importance as a historical-functional component of the Hortus Botanicus complex and because of its decorative value for the landscape design.
