Inleiding
Te Dieden ligt aan de Maasdijk op het kruispunt met de Voorstraat, Achterstraat, Poelstraat en Rosmolenstraat een smeedijzeren SCHUTKOOI, die in de huidige vorm uit omstreeks 1915 dateert.
Omschrijving
De vierkante kooi, waarin loslopend vee tijdelijk werd verzameld, heeft een kunststenen vloer. De omheining bestaat uit een tiental profielijzeren stijlen, rondom verbonden door een vijftal ijzeren banden, door middel van bouten aan elkaar verbonden. In het zuidelijke hek is een poortje opgenomen. De slotplaat is nog aanwezig, een grendel ontbreekt.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als getuigenis van de ontwikkeling van de landbouw, in het bijzonder de veeteelt, en het grondgebruik in de negentiende eeuw. Het heeft ensemblewaarden, vanwege de relatie met het landschap en het dijktalud ter plaatse. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven, typologisch en functioneel zeldzaam.

At Dieden, on the Maasdijk at the intersection with Voorstraat, Achterstraat, Poelstraat and Rosmolenstraat, there stands a wrought-iron CATTLE PEN, which in its present form dates from around 1915.
Description
The square pen, in which loose cattle were temporarily gathered, has an artificial stone floor. The enclosure consists of some ten profiled iron posts, connected around by five iron bands, joined to one another by means of bolts. A small gate is incorporated in the southern fence. The lock plate is still present, a bolt is missing.
Valuation
The object is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as evidence of the development of agriculture, in particular cattle raising, and land use in the nineteenth century. It has ensemble values, owing to its relationship with the landscape and the dike slope at this location. It has been well preserved, is typologically and functionally rare.
