Inleiding
Het woonhuis uit 1725 is in 1881 voorzien van een nieuwe, eclectische WINKELPUI en WINKEL. Het pand is genaamd 't Vergulde lam'. De koffie- en theehandel werd in opdracht van M.J. Kamphuizen gebouwd.
Het pand maakt onderdeel uit van de gesloten gevelwand aan de Lage Gouwe in het beschermde stadsgezicht van Gouda.
Omschrijving
Pand met lijstgevel. De symmetrische winkelpui beslaat de onderpui van de lijstgevel. De houten pui, voorzien van metalen sierelementen, heeft een plint van hardsteen en een stoep van graniet; de plint is op de hoeken licht risalerend en rond op de hoeken van het portiek. Op de hoeken van de ingangspartij bevinden zich houten zuilen met cannelures, verdikkingen met meanderdecoratie en bovenaan composietkapitelen. De entree bestaat uit een paneeldeur met ruit, houten grepen en een bovenlicht met een meanderlijst en sierelementen. Links en rechts van de entreepartij zijn winkelruiten geplaatst. Ze zijn gevat in houten lijsten met bovenaan een in- en uitzwenkende boog. In de zwikken zijn sierelementen aangebracht. De pui wordt afgesloten met een entablement. Op het fries is tussen banden met meandermotieven de tekst:'Koffie & Theehandel' in goudverf aangebracht. De gekropte lijst is voorzien van decoratieve lijstjes zoals een eierlijst. Op de bovenste lijst staat in goudverf: 'M.J. Kamphuizen'.
Het nagenoeg gave winkelINTERIEUR bestaat uit een winkelruimte en een daarachter gelegen kantoortje. Kantoor en winkel zijn afgescheiden door een wand, waarin een deur met een bovenlicht voorzien van een keperboog en een venster met keperboog geplaatst zijn. Op deze lijst zijn metalen sierelementen met gestileerde bloem- en bladmotieven geplaatst. In het midden bevinden zich twee dubbele kastdeuren met ruiten. De deuren zijn keperboogvormig afgesloten en alle voorzien van twee roeden. In de zwikken (boven de deuren) zijn goudkleurige kransen aangebracht.
Het houten plafond bestaat uit halfronde delen met latwerk en hangende sierelementen op de hoeken van het latwerk.

The wooden frontage, fitted with metal ornamental elements, has a sandstone plinth and a granite step; the plinth is slightly projecting at the corners and rounded at the corners of the portico. At the corners of the entrance section are wooden columns with fluting, swellings with meander decoration and Composite capitals at the top. The entrance consists of a panelled door with glazing, wooden handles and a fanlight with a meander moulding and ornamental elements.
