Inleiding
WINKELWOONHUIS, gebouwd in 1902, in een stijl georiënteerd op traditionele bouwwijze stijl met neorenaissance- en art nouveaukenmerken in de winkelpui. Het art nouveau tegeltableau is ontworpen en vervaardigd door de faience- en tegelfabriek `Holland' (1893-1920) te Utrecht.
Omschrijving
Het twee vensters brede winkelwoonhuis is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder een mansardekap met afgeplatte bovenzijde. Het pand telt drie bouwlagen. De bovenste bouwlaag bevindt zich grotendeels in de kap.
De voorgevel is opgetrokken in machinale baksteen in kruisverband met zeer smalle voeg. De gevel is versierd met natuur- of kunststenen speklagen en accenten bij de vensters en in de bogen boven de vensters. De eerste bouwlaag bevat een houten winkelpui bestaande uit een deur met bovenlicht temidden van bewerkte deurposten. De pui wordt overspannen door een grote segmentboog. Het boogveld bevat een art nouveau tegeltableau rechts gemerkt `Holland Utrecht' voorstellende papavers, uitgevoerd in groen met grijze bloemen op een gele achtergrond. Tegen de gevel zijn aan weerszijden natuur- of kunststenen lisenen met art nouveau-motieven uitgespaard. De tweede bouwlaag bevat twee schuifvensters met segmentboogvormige ontlastingsbogen. The front facade is constructed in machine-made brick in Flemish bond with very narrow joints.
