Inleiding
Aan de IJsselkade gelegen THEEKOEPEL, opgetrokken omstreeks 1880 in een voormalige tuin, gelegen achter een dijk van de Hollandse IJssel. De koepel werd vroeger de `koepel van Aelst' genoemd en is gelegen op een door sloten omgeven kunstmatig verhoogd eilandje. Door de verhoging kon men vanuit de koepel over de dijk uitzicht op de rivier hebben.
Omschrijving
De op een kunstmatige verhoging aan de Hollandse IJssel gelegen theekoepel is op een achthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken in hout en telt één bouwlaag onder een rietgedekt toelopend koepeldak met loden spits. De overstekende kap is voorzien van een omlopende gezaagde rand. De koepel staat op een gecementeerd bakstenen fundament. De witgeschilderde houten wanden bestaan grotendeels uit openslaande paneeldeuren met glas en luiken. Erboven zijn vaste bovenlichten met roedenverdeling geplaatst. Aan de noordoostzijde is tegen de koepel onder het overstek een aanbouwtje gezet.
Het interieur van de koepel bestaat uit een achthoekige ruimte. In de aarden verhoging bevindt zich een kelder.
Waardering
De theekoepel is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als gaaf voorbeeld van een houten theekoepel alsmede van situationele waarde vanwege de ligging aan de rivier. Van cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van een voor ontspanning van de elite gebouwde ruimte.

TEA PAVILION located on the IJsselkade, erected around 1880 in a former garden, located behind a dike of the Hollandse IJssel. The pavilion was formerly called the 'pavilion of Aelst' and is located on an artificial elevated island surrounded by ditches. The overhanging roof is provided with a continuous sawn edge. The pavilion stands on a cemented brick foundation. The white-painted wooden walls consist largely of opening panel doors with glass and shutters. Above are fixed fanlights with glazing bars placed. On the north-east side a small extension is placed against the pavilion under the overhang.
The interior of the pavilion consists of an octagonal space. In the earthen elevation a cellar is situated.
