Gietijzeren VOETGANGERSBRUG uit 1864 welke in oost-westelijke richting het Nieuwland verbindt met het Munnickenveld.
Omschrijving
Circa 16 meter lange en 1,40 meter brede vaste gietijzeren voetgangersbrug met een licht gebogen hoofdvorm. De planken van het brugdek zijn aan de uiteinden bevestigd op ijzeren U-balken die op 1/3 afstand vanaf beide kades rusten op een juk. De twee jukken bestaan elk uit twee ronde gecanneleerde kolommen van gietijzer die bovenaan door smeedijzeren kruisschoren met elkaar verbonden worden en een dwarsbalk dragen. De brugleuning is samengesteld uit gegroefde gietijzeren palen die door ronde smeedijzeren staven en een dito staafvormige handlijst met elkaar verbonden worden. De palen hebben ter hoogte van de drie staven ringen en lopen onderaan uit in een achthoekige voet. Aan de uiteinden van de brug en ter hoogte van de jukken zijn de palen paarsgewijs geplaatst en wordt de handlijst bekroond door een gietijzeren ornament in de vorm van een palmet tussen twee liggende voluten met florale motieven. Beide handlijsten eindigen aan weerskanten in een spiraalvorm.
Waardering
De brug is van algemeen belang wegens cultuurhistorische en typologische waarde als gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een gietijzeren voetgangersbrug uit het derde kwart van de 19de eeuw. Tevens heeft de brug situationele waarde vanwege de beeldbepalende ligging in het beschermde stadsgezicht.

Description
Approximately 16 metres long and 1.40 metres wide fixed cast-iron footbridge with a slightly curved main form. The planks of the bridge deck are fastened at the ends on iron U-beams which rest at a distance of 1/3 from both quays on a yoke. The two yokes each consist of two round fluted columns of cast iron which are connected at the top by wrought-iron cross-braces and carry a cross-beam. The bridge railing is composed of grooved cast-iron posts which are connected to each other by round wrought-iron rods and a similar rod-shaped handrail. The posts have rings at the height of the three rods and terminate at the bottom in an octagonal foot. At the ends of the bridge and at the height of the yokes, the posts are placed in pairs and the handrail is crowned by a cast-iron ornament in the form of a palmette between two reclining volutes with floral motifs. Both handrails end on either side in a spiral form.
Valuation
The bridge is of general importance due to its cultural-historical and typological value as an intact surviving example of a cast-iron footbridge from the third quarter of the 19th century. Furthermore, the bridge has situational value because of its image-determining location in the protected townscape.
