Inleiding
WINKELWONING uit het midden van de negentiende eeuw, gebouwd in opdracht van wijnhandelaar W. Schermer. Het pand is gelegen aan de zuidwestzijde van het Kleine Noord. De zorgvuldig gedetailleerde voorgevel vertoont Neo-Classicistische invloeden (in de symmetrische opzet, gevelgeleding, kroonlijst en vensters).
Aan de achterzijde van het pand is naderhand een aanbouw van één bouwlaag met plat dak opgetrokken en er is een verbinding gemaakt met het achterliggende pand aan het Scharloo. Deze aanbouw valt buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
De winkelwoning heeft een nagenoeg rechthoekige plattegrond en telt twee bouwlagen onder een schilddak waarvan de noklijn vrijwel haaks staat op de gerende voorgevel. Op het voorschild liggen zwarte geglazuurde Hollandse pannen; de zijschilden zijn gedekt met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen.
De voorgevel (NO) is boven een hardstenen plint opgetrokken in rode handvormsteen in kruisverband met snijvoeg. De gevel heeft een symmetrische opzet en wordt door twee hoeklisenen en een middenrisaliet vertikaal geleed. Zowel de lisenen als de middenrisaliet zetten zich voort in het gekorniste hoofdgestel. Het laatste is voorzien van een tandlijst onder de kroonlijst. In de middenrisaliet bevindt zich op de begane grond een brede, van één ruit voorziene deur met bovenlicht. Het kalf boven de deur is versierd met een eierlijst. Rechts naast de deur bevindt zich een hardstenen brievenbus waaronder een kleine hardstenen gevelsteen met het opschrift "W. SCHERMER 1840". De deur wordt aan weerskanten geflankeerd door twee schuifvensters, voorzien van hardstenen lekdorpels. De vensters en het bovenlicht boven de deur worden ontlast door getoogde strekken. De eerste verdieping telt vijf zesruits schuifvensters, eveneens voorzien van hardstenen lateien en getoogde strekken. Het in de middenrisaliet geplaatste middelste venster is evenals het deurkozijn eronder breder uitgevoerd en voorzien van een brede middenroede. Boven de middenrisaliet staat op het voorschild een dakkapel voorzien van een vierruits schuifvenster met brede middenroede, en een segmentvormig fronton waarachter een gebogen dak met een dekking van zink. De eveneens zinkgedekte zijkanten van de dakkapel zijn voorzien van cirkelmotieven. De zijgevels worden door de aangrenzende panden aan het oog onttrokken.
De als topgevel uitgevoerde achtergevel (ZW) is boven de genoemde aanbouw gecementeerd. Op de eerste verdieping bevindt zich van rechts naar links een kleine uitbouw met plat dak en vierruits schuifvenster, een luik naar het platte dak boven de aanbouw, en een door twee horizontale roeden in drieën gedeeld openslaand raam. De gesloten topgevel is voorzien van drie oude schootankers.
In het interieur van de winkel is de originele afwerking en inrichting gedeeltelijk aanwezig. Bij binnenkomst bevindt zich links een toonbank met daarachter evenals rechts tegen de achterwand een winkelstelling, uit hout vervaardigd. De palen waarachter zich de dragers van de planken bevinden zijn vormgegeven als zuilen voorzien van Corinthische kapitelen. Tenslotte zijn op de begane grond nog het originele stucplafond en de authentieke tegelvloer aanwezig. De eerste verdieping verkeert nog grotendeels in de oorspronkelijke staat.
Waardering
Het winkelpand met bijbehorend interieur is van algemeen belang wegens architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een winkelwoning uit het midden van de 19de eeuw.

Introduction
SHOP-DWELLING from the middle of the nineteenth century, built on the commission of wine merchant W. Schermer. The building is located on the south-west side of the Kleine Noord. The carefully detailed front facade displays Neo-Classical influences (in the symmetrical composition, facade articulation, cornice and windows).
On the rear side of the building a single-storey extension with flat roof was subsequently built, and a connection was made with the adjoining building on the Scharloo. This extension falls outside the protection.
Description
The shop-dwelling has an almost rectangular floor plan and comprises two storeys under a hipped roof whose ridge line is almost perpendicular to the sloping front facade. On the front slope black glazed Dutch tiles are laid; the side slopes are covered with smoke-cured Dutch tiles.
The front facade (NE) is constructed above a stone plinth in red hand-made brick in stretcher bond with struck joint. The facade has a symmetrical composition and is vertically articulated by two corner pilasters and a central risalit. Both the pilasters and the central risalit continue into the corniced main entablature. The latter is provided with a dentil course below the cornice. In the central risalit there is on the ground floor a wide door with a single pane provided with a fanlight. The calf above the door is decorated with an egg-and-dart moulding. To the right of the door is a stone letterbox below which a small stone facade stone with the inscription "W. SCHERMER 1840". The door is flanked on both sides by two sash windows, provided with stone drip mouldings. The windows and the fanlight above the door are relieved by arched lintels. The first floor has five six-pane sash windows, also provided with stone lintels and arched lintels. The middle window placed in the central risalit is, like the door frame below it, executed wider and provided with a wide central glazing bar. Above the central risalit on the front slope stands a roof dormer provided with a four-pane sash window with wide central glazing bar, and a segmental pediment behind which a curved roof with zinc covering. The similarly zinc-clad side faces of the roof dormer are provided with circle motifs. The side facades are obscured from view by the adjoining buildings on the street.
The rear facade (SW), executed as a gable, is cemented above the aforementioned extension. On the first floor there is from right to left a small projection with flat roof and four-pane sash window, a hatch to the flat roof above the extension, and a casement window divided into three by two horizontal glazing bars. The closed gable is provided with three old roof anchors.
In the interior of the shop the original finishing and fixtures are partially present. Upon entering on the left is a counter with behind it as well as on the right against the rear wall a shop fitting, made of wood. The posts behind which the shelf bearers are located are shaped as columns provided with Corinthian capitals. Finally on the ground floor the original stucco ceiling and the authentic tile floor are still present. The first floor is still largely in its original state.
Valuation
The shop building with its interior is of general importance for its architectural and cultural-historical value as a well-preserved example of a shop-dwelling from the middle of the 19th century.
