Inleiding
SCHOOLGEBOUW, genaamd `'t Ol Schoultje' (niet-origineel), gebouwd in 1877 door architect J. Tilbusscher in een Ambachtelijk-traditionele stijl. De twee klassen tellende openbare lagere school was tot 1927 in gebruik. Na 1940 werd het pand eigendom van de Nederlands Hervormde kerk van Huizinge en werd toen middels een hals verbonden met de naastgelegen kosterswoning. Zowel de kosterswoning als de aan de achterzijde gepleegde nieuwbouw uit 1968 (toiletten) komen wegens te weinig architectonische kwaliteit niet voor bescherming van rijkswege in aanmerking. Tegenwoordig is het pand in gebruik als dorpshuis; door deze nieuwe functie is de indeling gewijzigd.
De school is gelegen in het centrum van Huizinge in het beschermde dorpsgezicht.
Omschrijving
Het één verdieping hoge, symmetrische SCHOOLGEBOUW op rechthoekige plattegrond is opgetrokken in rode baksteen op een naar voren springend trasraam en wordt gedekt door een zadeldak waarop zwarte geglazuurde Friese golfpannen; centraal een gemetselde schoorsteen; strakke houten windveren; houten gootlijst aan de oostzijde en houten goot op klossen aan de westzijde; muurankers. De gevels worden geleed door gemetselde pilasters op de hoeken en halfronde vensters met houten roedenverdeling onder een rood bakstenen rollaag en wenkbrauwboog beëindigd door een gepleisterde decoratie; ventilatiegaten in het trasraam; ter hoogte van het trasraam een bakstenen gevelband.
De entree bevindt zich centraal in de voorgevel (oostzijde) in een uitgebouwd portaal onder plat dak; niet-originele deuren waarboven een drieruits bovenlicht onder rollaag omlijst door pilasters; niet-originele stoep; boven de entree een gevelsteen waarin het bouwjaar `1877'; in de linker pilaster een gevelsteen waarin `JW v R burg. 1877' en in de rechter `SKN en CJD Weth. 1877'; aan weerszijden van het portaal een halfronde nis onder rollaag. Aan weerszijden van de entree twee halfronde vensters en rechts een gevelsteen waarin `A.K.V. (Venhuizen) Hoofdo'.
Aan de zuidzijde twee halfronde nissen onder wenkbrauwboog en in de top een rond venster met decoratieve roedenverdeling onder rollaag.
Aan de achterzijde (westgevel) bevindt zich de niet-beschermde aanbouw (1968) onder lessenaarsdak.
Aan de noordzijde twee halfronde dichtgezette vensters met in het bovenlicht decoratieve roedenverdeling en in de top twee gemetselde driehoekige vlakken waartussen een dichtgezette deur waarboven een hijsbalk. Aan deze zijde is de niet-beschermde hals met kosterswoning aangebouwd.

SCHOOL BUILDING, named ''t Ol Schoultje' (non-original), built in 1877 by architect J. Tilbusscher in a Craft-traditional style. The public primary school comprising two classrooms was in use until 1927. After 1940 the building became the property of the Dutch Reformed church of Huizinge and was then connected to the adjoining caretaker's cottage by means of a neck. Description
The one-storey, symmetrical SCHOOL BUILDING on a rectangular plan is constructed of red brickwork on a forward-projecting wooden framework and is covered by a gabled roof with black glazed Frisian pantiles; centrally a brick chimney; tight wooden weather vanes; wooden cornice board on the east side and wooden gutter on corbels on the west side; wall anchors. The facades are articulated by brick pilasters at the corners and semi-circular windows with wooden glazing bars under a red brick drip moulding and relieving arch terminated by a rendered decoration; ventilation openings in the wooden framework; at the height of the wooden framework a brick facade band.
The entrance is located centrally in the front facade (east side) in a projected porch under a flat roof; non-original doors with a three-pane fanlight above under a drip moulding framed by pilasters; non-original step; above the entrance a facade stone with the construction year '1877'; in the left pilaster a facade stone with 'JW v R burg. 1877' and in the right 'SKN and CJD Weth. 1877'; on either side of the porch a semi-circular niche under a drip moulding. On either side of the entrance two semi-circular windows and on the right a facade stone with 'A.K.V. (Venhuizen) Hoofdo'.
On the south side two semi-circular niches under a relieving arch and at the top a round window with decorative glazing bars under a drip moulding.
On the rear side (west facade) the unprotected annex (1968) is situated under a lean-to roof.
On the north side two semi-circular filled-in windows with decorative glazing bars in the fanlight and at the top two brick triangular panels between which a filled-in door with a hoist beam above. On this side the unprotected neck with caretaker's cottage is attached.
