Inleiding.
PASTORIE, circa 1870 opgetrokken in eclectische vormen, en al sinds de bouwtijd in gebruik als pastorie van de Nederlands Hervormde kerk. De ingang van de pastorie is markant tegenover de Catharinastraat gelegen. Tevens ligt het pand binnen het van rijkswege beschermde gezicht Heusden stadskern.
Omschrijving.
Tweelaags pand van vijf traveeën met een lijstgevel in schoon metselwerk onder een met zink gedekt tentdak en met kruispannen gedekte schilden. Gecementeerde en beschilderde plint. Fries met in reliëf aangebrachte casementen en cirkels. Hardstenen stoep en trap. Alle gevels zijn gemetseld in staand verband en geknipt en gesneden gevoegd. Recht gesloten vensters met schuif T-ramen; op de begane grond met glas-in-lood in het bovenlicht. De bovenzijde van de vensters heeft een rijk gedetailleerde omlijsting met onder andere diamantkoppen, triglyfen en druppen. De bovenzijde heeft een kuifversiering. Het middengedeelte van de voorgevel is iets risalerend gemaakt. Met pilasters omlijst portiek met vleugelpaneeldeur met smeedijzeren beslag en bovenlicht in portiek. Balkon op geornamenteerde voluutvormige consoles; met daarboven een siersmeedijzeren hekwerk. Het balkon heeft een openslaande dubbele deur met omlijsting en frontonbekroning. Zij- en achtergevel met ijzeren krul-, steek- en schotelankers. Achtergevel met recht gesloten vensters en zesruits schuiframen op de verdieping. Op de begane grond hebben de vensters enkelruits schuiframen. Aan de linkerzijde bevindt zich een kleine, gemetselde poort onder een ezelsrug en met een opgeklampte rondboogpoort.
Intern is het pand symmetrisch ingedeeld. Op de begane grond met een centrale gang met aan beide zijden twee kamers ensuite. In de hal bevinden zich nog de originele tegelvloer, een bewerkte houten trap en een geornamenteerd stucplafond.
In de belendende kamers zijn verlaagde plafonds aangebracht.
Waardering.
Het pastorie is van algemeen belang wegens de cultuurhistorische en architectuurhistorische waarde die het heeft als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke en typologische ontwikkeling; namelijk de verwijzing naar de status van de predikant in Heusden en de zeldzaam rijke uitvoering van het bouwtype. Het pand heeft architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de bijzondere eclectische ornamentiek in met name de vensteromlijstingen en de architectonische details.
Tevens heeft de pastorie ensemblewaarde vanwege onder meer de gaafheid van het exterieur en de straatbeeldbepalende ligging binnen het beschermde gezicht Heusden stadskern.

The entrance of the parsonage is markedly located opposite the Catharinastraat. Furthermore the building is situated within the state-protected townscape of Heusden town centre.
Description.
Two-storey building of five bays with a cornice-topped facade in fine brickwork under a zinc-clad tent roof and with glazed roof tiles on the hipped ends. Cemented and painted plinth. Frieze with casements and circles applied in relief. Sandstone stoep and steps. All facades are laid in stretcher bond and finished with cut and combed joints. Straight-headed windows with sash T-windows; on the ground floor with leaded glass in the fanlight. The top of the windows has a richly detailed frame with among other things diamond knobs, triglyphs and drops. The top has a crest ornament. The middle section of the front facade is slightly projecting. Portico framed with pilasters with hinged-panel door with wrought-iron fitting and fanlight in portico. Balcony on ornamented scroll-shaped consoles; with decorative wrought-iron railing above it. The balcony has an opening double door with frame and pediment crown. Side and rear facade with iron scroll, stab and plate wall anchors. Rear facade with straight-headed windows and six-light sash windows on the upper floor. On the ground floor the windows have single-light sash windows. On the left side there is a small, brick gate under a back-to-back arch and with an affixed semi-circular gate.
Internally the building has a symmetrical layout. On the ground floor with a central corridor with two rooms ensuite on each side. In the hall there is still the original tile floor, a worked wooden stair and an ornamented stucco ceiling.
Lowered ceilings have been installed in the adjoining rooms.
Valuation.
The parsonage is of general importance because of the cultural-historical and architectural-historical value it has as a particular expression of a spiritual and typological development; namely the reference to the status of the minister in Heusden and the unusually richly executed design of the building type. The building has architectural-historical value because of the particular eclectic ornamentation in particular in the window frames and architectural details.
Furthermore the parsonage has ensemble value because of amongst other things the intactness of the exterior and the street-scene-defining location within the protected townscape of Heusden town centre.
