Inleiding.
BEGRAAFPLAATS, met name twee GRAFMONUMENTEN, met Eclectische invloeden, onder meer veel uit de negentiende en twintigste eeuw. Gelegen rondom de NH-kerk. De twee voorgedragen graven dateren uit circa 1890.
Omschrijving.
De begraafplaats is gelegen op het terrein rondom de kerk. Veel hardstenen zerken uit de negentiende eeuw. Onder andere: D. Kelfkens 1894, C. Prillevitz 1893, Burg. J.A. Gerlach 1837, J.A. Gerlach jr. 1881, A. Seret 1881, H.J. van Eijk 1881, J.C. van Eijk 1861, S. Everhuis 1867, J. Burghout 1867, A. Verhagen 1859, A. Rietvelt 1838, J.A. Rietvelt 1852, H. Rietvelt 1838, A.S. de Krijff 1855, S.A.A. Vreede 1861, J. Vreede 1860, S.P. Vreede 1861, E.A. Fenton 1889, A.M. Groenevelt 1901, E. Alleman 1858, J.J. de Vasii 1834, begraafplaats van de familie Verhagen 1875, A.A.H. Tierens 1900, H.G. van Maaren 1891, S. Tierens 1884, H. Huree 1881, C.F. de Man 1883. Verder zijn er fragmenten van hardstenen laat-gotische en zeventiende-eeuwse zerken tegen de meest westelijke travee, aan de zuidzijde o.a. gotisch schrift en evangelistensymbool.
De te beschermen grafmonumenten zijn:
-De grafzerk van E.A. Fenton, 1889 + Rechthoekige hardstenen grafzerk op bakstenen voet, afmetingen 2.20 m. bij 1.15 m. bij 0.095 m. (L/B/H). De zerk is ten oosten van het koor van de kerk gelegen.
Gebeitelde inscriptie: Elisabeth Amelia Fenton, weduwe van Jan Pape, geb. 26 december 1813, overl. 6 januari 1889.
De zerk is sober geornamenteerd met een ingebeitelde neogotische ezelsrugboog; deze dient als omlijsting van de inscriptie. In de hoeken boven de boog bevindt zich in reliëf sober, floraal vormgegeven, krulwerk.
-Familiegraf Rietvelt, circa 1832-1838. Graf op rechthoekige grondslag omgeven door een ijzeren hekwerk. Vier hardstenen zerken op funderingen van baksteen die twee aan twee boven elkaar geplaatst zijn. Het graf is gelegen in de oksel van het koor en de noordelijke transeptarm van de kerk.
Ongewoon rijk gedetailleerd smeedijzeren hekwerk op hardstenen fundering, geornamenteerd met krulwerk, pijlpunten en met gegoten knoppen.
Binnen dit hekwerk bevinden zich vier hardstenen zerken van:
-Helena Rietvelt/geboren 26 november 1752/overl. 10 augustus 1836.
-Adriana Rietvelt/weduwe van Francois Tieleman Leemans/geboren 19 juni 1744/overleden 11 mei 1838.
-Johan A. Rietvelt/....../overleden/den 18 april 1832. De vierde zerk is onbeschreven.
Waardering.
De grafmonumenten zijn van algemeen belang wegens de cultuurhistorische waarde die ze hebben als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke en typologische ontwikkeling; namelijk het vervallen van de gewoonte waarbij binnen de kerk begraven wordt en de typologische zeldzaamheid van zowel het neogotische als het familiegraf. Tevens hebben de grafmonumenten architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de neogotische ornamentiek en de ongewoon rijke detaillering van het hekwerk.

-The gravestone of E.A. Fenton, 1889 + Rectangular sandstone gravestone on brick base, dimensions 2.20 m. by 1.15 m. by 0.095 m. (L/W/H). The gravestone is located to the east of the choir of the church.
Chiselled inscription: Elisabeth Amelia Fenton, widow of Jan Pape, born 26 December 1813, died 6 January 1889.
The gravestone is simply ornamented with a chiselled neo-Gothic back-to-back arch; this serves as a frame for the inscription. In the corners above the arch there is sober, florally designed, scrollwork in relief.
-Rietvelt family grave, circa 1832-1838. Grave on rectangular base surrounded by an iron railing. Four sandstone gravestones on brick foundations which are placed two by two on top of each other. The grave is located in the crook of the choir and the northern transept arm of the church.
Unusually richly detailed wrought-iron railing on sandstone foundation, ornamented with scrollwork, arrowheads and with cast knobs.
Within this railing there are four sandstone gravestones of:
-Helena Rietvelt/born 26 November 1752/died 10 August 1836.
-Adriana Rietvelt/widow of Francois Tieleman Leemans/born 19 June 1744/died 11 May 1838.
-Johan A. Rietvelt/....../died/18 April 1832. The fourth gravestone is unmarked.
Valuation.
The funerary monuments are of general importance because of the cultural-historical value they have as a particular expression of a spiritual and typological development; namely the abandonment of the practice whereby burial takes place within the church and the typological rarity of both the neo-Gothic and the family grave. Furthermore the funerary monuments have architectural-historical value because of the neo-Gothic ornamentation and the unusually rich detailing of the railing.
