Inleiding.
Aan de oostelijke zijde van de Stationsstraat staat, enigszins terug gelegen van de openbare weg en door een voortuin daarvan gescheiden, het HERENHUIS Stationsstraat 11, een in Eclectische stijl omstreeks 1890 gebouwd woonhuis. Omstreeks 1950 is aan de zuidelijke zijde een garage gebouwd. Deze valt buiten de bescherming. In de diepe tuin onder meer twee waardevolle taxusbomen en een meidoornhaag.
Beschrijving.
Het eenlaags woonhuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en wordt gedekt door een zadeldak met oud-Hollandse pannen. Twee gemetselde schoorstenen op de zijgevels. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in baksteen. De strak symmetrische voorgevel heeft een rijke versiering in stuc, met onder meer venster- en deuromlijstingen met segmentboogvormige frontons, kroonlijst met gestuct fries en geprofileerde houten goot. Plint en vensterdorpels zijn van hardsteen. De voorgevel heeft een vernieuwde paneeldeur met bovenlicht, geflankeerd aan beide zijden door twee T-vensters, alle gevuld met eenvoudige glas-in-lood panelen. De zijgevels zijn, op een klein venster na, grotendeels blind. De tuin wordt door een recht pad naar de voordeur doorsneden. Dit pad wordt aan de straatzijde geflankeerd door bakstenen pijlers met siermetselwerk en een kunststenen dekplaat.
Waardering.
Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van de grensstreek. On the eastern side of the Stationsstraat, somewhat set back from the public road and separated from it by a front garden, stands the GENTLEMAN'S HOUSE Stationsstraat 11, a dwelling erected in Eclectic style circa 1890. Circa 1950 a garage was built on the southern side. This falls outside the protection. In the deep garden, among others, two valuable yew trees and a hawthorn hedge.
Description.
The single-storey dwelling has a rectangular floor plan and is covered by a gabled roof with old Dutch tiles. Two brick chimneys on the side facades. The facades are erected in brick. The taut symmetrical front facade has rich decoration in stucco, including window and door surrounds with segmental arch pediments, cornice with stucco frieze and profiled wooden gutter. Plinth and window sills are of hard stone. The front facade has a renewed panel door with upper light, flanked on both sides by two T-windows, all filled with simple leaded glass panes. The side facades are, except for a small window, largely blind. The garden is traversed by a straight path to the front door. This path is flanked on the street side by brick pillars with decorative brickwork and an artificial stone coping plate.
