Inleiding.
Het H. VINCENTIUSGESTICHT is gebouwd in 1867 naar ontwerp van architect C.P. van Genk. Het gesticht is gebouwd in Ambachtelijke Traditionele Stijl.
Omschrijving.
Het tweelaagse gebouw telt drie traveeën en heeft een zadeldak met oudhollandse dakpannen. Het onderkelderde pand is opgetrokken uit baksteen met een hardsteen plint en vensterdorpels. De getoogde zesruits vensters met raambefjes en de vleugeldeur rechts met het gedeelde bovenlicht worden omrand door lisenen. Hierboven bevindt zich een hardstenen gevelsteen met in verdiepte, oorspronkelijk vergulde letters de naam: "H. Vincentius Gesticht". De getoogde vierruits vensters op de verdieping zijn voorzien van raambefjes als tandlijstje. Onder de geprofileerde gootlijst bevindt zich een tandlijst en een keperboogfries.
Waardering.
Het pand is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een katholiek gestichtsgebouw. Het heeft architectonische waarde als voorbeeld van een eenvoudig, haast herenhuisachtig klooster en als voorbeeld van het vroege werk van de architect Van Genk. The two-storey building has three bays and has a gabled roof with old Dutch roof tiles. The basement building is constructed from brick with an ashlar plinth and window lintels. The arched six-pane windows with window frames and the casement door to the right with the divided fanlight are bordered by pilasters. Above this is an ashlar facade stone with in recessed, originally gilded letters the name: "H. Vincentius Gesticht". The arched four-pane windows on the floor above are provided with window frames as a dentil line. Under the profiled cornice line is a dentil line and a herringbone-pattern frieze.
Valuation.
The building is of general interest. It has cultural-historical value as an example of a Catholic institution building. It has architectural value as an example of a simple, almost townhouse-like convent and as an example of the early work of architect Van Genk. It is moreover of importance because of the integrity of the exterior and in relation to the visual and structural integrity of the urban environment.
