Inleiding.
De voormalige FABRIEKSHAL werd gebouwd in 1862 voor de vroegere suikerfabriek in opdracht van de Sucreries de Breda et de Berg op Zoom in een sobere Ambachtelijk-Traditionele stijl. Het pand werd aan het eind van de vorige en aan het begin van de huidige eeuw diverse malen verbouwd. De entree werd rond 1970 vergroot.
Omschrijving.
De fabriekshal, de linkerhal, heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en een zadeldak met rode oudhollandse dakpannen. De gevels zijn opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen. De voorgevel heeft een gepleisterde plint en in het midden een later ingebouwde hoge rechtgesloten poort onder stalen profielbalk. Aan weerskanten hiervan een rondboograam met ijzeren roedenverdeling. Hierboven drie rondboogramen met kleine roedenverdeling en in de topgevel een ijzeren rondraam. Onder de met een rollaag afgewerkte gevellijst bevinden zich gietijzeren rozetankers met sterpatroon en onder de lage tuit een hijsbalk. De linkerzijgevel is ingebouwd, van het niet ingebouwde gedeelte van de rechterzijgevel is evenals aan de achtergevel te zien dat deze gepleisterd zijn. De achtergevel is voorzien van een nieuwe poort en twee dichtgemetselde ramen met profielbalken. De zijden en de topgevel zijn voorzien van gepleisterde lisenen. Inwendig is het pand opgetrokken uit schoon metselwerk. De kap is beschoten met houten planken en voorzien van tien polonceauspanten. Deze bestaan uit platte ijzeren profielbalken. De schuin tegen elkaar geplaatste balken zijn onderling door een trekstang verbonden, met een opwaarts geknikte onderrand. Daartussen bevinden zich twee diagonale stijlen per spantbeen. De hal is ontdaan van alle apparatuur die aan de vroegere functie herinnert.
Waardering.
De fabriekshal is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling. The former FACTORY HALL was built in 1862 for the former sugar factory on the orders of the Sucreries de Breda et de Berg op Zoom in a sober Craft-Traditional style. Description.
The factory hall, the left hall, has a rectangular plan and a gabled roof with red old Dutch roof tiles. The facades are built of machine-made brick. The front facade has a plastered plinth and in the centre a later inserted tall closed gate under a steel profile beam. On either side of this a round-arched window with iron glazing bars. Above these three round-arched windows with small glazing bars and in the gable end a wrought-iron round window. Below the cornice finished with a roll moulding are cast-iron ornamental wall anchors with star pattern and below the low spout a hoist beam. The left side facade is built in; of the non-built-in part of the right side facade as well as on the rear facade it can be seen that these are plastered. The rear facade is provided with a new gate and two bricked-in windows with profile beams. The side and gable ends are provided with plastered pilasters. Internally the building is built of fair-faced brickwork. The roof truss is boarded with wooden planks and fitted with ten polonceau roof trusses. These consist of flat iron profile beams. The beams placed diagonally against each other are connected to each other by a tie rod with an upwardly bent lower edge. Between these are two diagonal struts per truss member. The hall has been stripped of all equipment that recalls its former function.
