Inleiding
WINKELWONING, in gebruik als apotheek en bovenwoning. Het pand is in 1858 gebouwd, getuige een stichtingssteen in de achtergevel: "Eerste steen gelegd door H. Frank, 1858", en bezit een middeleeuwse kelder en een winkelpui uit het laatste kwart van de 19e eeuw in eclectische stijl. Het pand is gelegen in de aaneengesloten noordelijke gevelwand van de Rijnstraat, nabij de hoek met de Tullekensteeg.
Omschrijving
WINKELWONING van drie bouwlagen en zolderverdieping op rechthoekig grondplan. De zolderverdieping heeft een schilddak met de nok loodrecht op de straat. Het dak is belegd met gesmoorde verbeterde Hollandse pannen.
De VOORGEVEL heeft een winkelpui in de eerste bouwlaag. De WINKELPUI is vier traveeën breed en wordt geleed door houten pilasters. De pilasters zijn voorzien van langgerekte spiegels met geprofileerde omlijsting en hebben eenvoudige lijstkapitelen. De pui rust op een tweedelige, gekorniste plint, waarin twee getoogde keldervensters. De pui wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde kroonlijst. De kroonlijst bezit aan de onderzijde een tandlijst en wordt ondersteund door zeven voluutconsoles. De pilasters en consoles aan de zijden zijn gekoppeld. De ingang naar de bovenwoning bevindt zich in de linker travee, en bestaat uit twee hardstenen treden en neuten, een paneeldeur met twee raampjes, een geprofileerd kalf en een getoogd bovenlicht met glas-in-lood. Het winkelgedeelte van de pui is symmetrisch ingedeeld: een vernieuwde deur in ondiep portiek met getoogd bovenlicht tussen twee enkelruits ramen met getoogde bovenlichten, alle voorzien van geprofileerde omlijstingen. De tweede en derde bouwlaag hebben een symmetrische indeling van drie vensterassen met middenrisaliet. De bakstenen gevel is in kruisverband gemetseld, heeft een waterlijst ter hoogte van de lekdorpels in de tweede bouwlaag, een geprofileerde cordonlijst tussen de verdiepingen en een houten hoofdgestel (geprofileerde architraaf, vlak fries, geprofileerde kroonlijst) als beëindiging. Beide verdiepingen hebben drie segmentboogvormig afgesloten schuifvensters: zesruits in de tweede, en vierruits in de derde bouwlaag. De geprofileerde middenstijl heeft in de bovenlichten een kapiteeltje waarop rondboogvormige roeden aansluiten. De vensters zijn ver in de gevel teruggeplaatst en hebben een geprofileerde omlijsting.
De bakstenen ACHTERGEVEL bezit in de tweede bouwlaag twee zesruits schuifvensters en in de derde bouwlaag twee vierruits schuifvensters, alle met strekken. De achtergevel sluit aan de bovenzijde af met een geprofileerde bakgoot.
INTERIEUR met onder meer een kelder, bestaande uit een grote overwelfde middeleeuwse kelderruimte, een smal overwelfd trapgedeelte langs de linker zijgevel, een kelderruimte met drie troggewelven in de lengterichting van het gebouw en een kelderruimte met smal tongewelf aan de achterzijde; twee toogkasten met kuiven behorend tot de laat 19de eeuwse winkelinventaris; eenvoudige stucplafonds met middenrozetten in de vestibule en de bovenwoning, evenals paneeldeuren met geprofileerde kozijnen en enkele zwart marmeren schouwen; trappenhuis aan de achterzijde met bewerkte houten trappaal en spijlen; zolderverdieping met twee houten boogspanten met makelaar.

SHOP WITH DWELLING, in use as a pharmacy and flat above. The building was constructed in 1858, as evidenced by a foundation stone in the rear facade: "First stone laid by H. Description
SHOP WITH DWELLING of three storeys and attic storey on rectangular ground plan. The attic storey has a hipped roof with the ridge perpendicular to the street. The roof is covered with smothered improved Dutch tiles.
The FRONT FACADE has a shop front in the first storey. The SHOP FRONT is four bays wide and is articulated by wooden pilasters. The pilasters are provided with elongated mirrors with moulded surrounds and have simple list capitals. The front rests on a two-part, corniced plinth, in which two arched cellar windows. The front is finished with a moulded cornice. The cornice has a dentil moulding on the underside and is supported by seven volute consoles. The pilasters and consoles at the sides are coupled. The entrance to the flat above is situated in the left bay, and consists of two stone steps and landings, a panel door with two small windows, a moulded stone jamb and an arched fanlight with leaded glass. The shop section of the front is symmetrically arranged: a renewed door in shallow portico with arched fanlight between two single-pane windows with arched fanlights, all provided with moulded surrounds. The second and third storeys have a symmetrical arrangement of three window axes with central projection. The brick facade is laid in stretcher bond, has a drip moulding at the level of the roof gutters in the second storey, a moulded cordon moulding between the storeys and a wooden entablature (moulded architrave, flat frieze, moulded cornice) as finish. Both storeys have three segmental arch-finished sash windows: six-pane in the second, and four-pane in the third storey. The moulded central mullion has a small capital in the fanlights onto which semicircular arched glazing bars connect. The windows are set far back in the facade and have a moulded surround.
The brick REAR FACADE possesses in the second storey two six-pane sash windows and in the third storey two four-pane sash windows, all with stretches. The rear facade is finished at the top with a moulded brick gutter.
INTERIOR including among others a cellar, consisting of a large vaulted medieval cellar space, a narrow vaulted staircase section along the left side facade, a cellar space with three barrel vaults in the length of the building and a cellar space with narrow barrel vault on the rear side; two display cabinets with bins belonging to the late 19th century shop inventory; simple stucco ceilings with central rosettes in the vestibule and the flat above, as well as panel doors with moulded frames and several black marble fireplaces; staircase at the rear with worked wooden stair rail and balusters; attic storey with two wooden arch trusses with struts.
