Inleiding
WINKELWONING uit 1902 in Art Nouveau-stijl. Het winkelpand met de bovenwoning is gesitueerd in de aaneengesloten oostelijke gevelwand van de Bakkerstraat in het centrum van Arnhem. Thans zijn de woonverdiepingen in gebruik als magazijn.
Omschrijving
WINKELWONING op rechthoekig grondplan met een voorhuis van drie in hoogte afnemende bouwlagen met zolderverdieping, een achterhuis van twee bouwlagen en een drielaags tussenlid met trappenhuis. De bouwdelen zijn om een binnenhofje gegroepeerd en hebben alle platte daken. Alleen het voorhuis heeft met rood geglazuurde tuiles du Nord belegde dakschilden aan de voorzijde. De asymmetrisch ingedeelde VOORGEVEL is drie traveeën breed, heeft een winkelpui in de eerste bouwlaag en daarboven een gemetselde gevel van rode verblendsteen in kruisverband. De gevel is voorzien van smeedijzeren sierankers. De linker travee wordt recht afgesloten en de rechter twee traveeën worden beëindigd door een asymmetrische topgevel. De gevelbeëindiging heeft een natuurstenen afdeklijst met piron op de topgevel.
De asymmetrische WINKELPUI is gevat tussen twee hardstenen pilasters en wordt overspannen door een ijzeren latei met afsluitende geprofileerde hardstenen lijst. De pilasters hebben een uitbuikend basement, een vierkante schacht met afgeronde hoeken en een fantasie-kapiteel in Art Nouveau-stijl. De roodgeschilderde latei is versierd met om en om een rozet en een spiraalvormig ornament. De pui bestaat uit een grote samengestelde etalage op een hardstenen plint rechts, en een portiek links. Het portiek heeft een tegelvloer met geometrische motieven, een wand van zwarte tegels waarin tableaus met plantmotieven in Art Nouveau-stijl en twee deuren. De neggen en de kozijnen hebben een kwarthol-profiel. De tweede verdieping heeft drie stolpramen met licht getoogd kalf en achtruits bovenlicht. De neggen en de kozijnen (met schouderboogjes in de hoeken) hebben een kwarthol-profiel. De hardstenen lateien zijn voorzien van een staafprofiel. De zolderverdieping heeft in de linker travee drie gekoppelde segmentboognissen met tegelmozaïek in Art Nouveau-stijl, en in de topgevel drie gekoppelde smalle vensters met hardstenen lekdorpel en lateien. Het hogere middelste venster heeft een gebogen kalf en draairaam. De bakstenen ACHTERGEVEL van het voorhuis is in kruisverband gemetseld en heeft een groot samengesteld venster onder ijzeren latei op de eerste verdieping, twee stolpramen met drieruits bovenlichten onder blinde segmentboog op de tweede verdieping en twee stolpramen onder blinde segmentbogen op de zolderverdieping.
Het grotendeels gewijzigde WINKELINTERIEUR heeft een in vakken opgedeeld stucplafond met lijsten en middenrozetten. Het INTERIEUR van de BOVENWONING bezit onder meer stucplafonds met lijsten en middenrozetten, paneeldeuren met geprofileerde omlijstingen, twee zwart marmeren schoorsteenmantels, een trappenhuis met houten trap, gietijzeren leuning en houten handlijst, en een kelder met tongewelf en troggewelven op ijzeren liggers.

SHOP WITH FLAT on a rectangular ground plan with a front section of three storeys decreasing in height with an attic storey, a rear section of two storeys and a three-storey connecting section with stairwell. The building components are grouped around a courtyard and all have flat roofs. Only the front section has a roof covered with glazed tuiles du Nord tiles at the front. The asymmetrically arranged FRONT FACADE is three bays wide, has a shop front on the first storey and above it a masonry facade of red facing brick in English bond. The facade is furnished with ornamental wrought-iron wall anchors. The left bay is terminated in line and the right two bays are ended by an asymmetrical gable. The facade termination has a natural stone coping list with piron on the gable.
The asymmetrical SHOP FRONT is set between two hardstone pilasters and is spanned by an iron lintel with a closing profiled hardstone moulding. The pilasters have a projecting basement, a square shaft with rounded corners and a fantasy capital in Art Nouveau style. The red-painted lintel is decorated alternately with a rosette and a spiral ornament. The shop front consists of a large composite display window on a hardstone plinth on the right, and a porch on the left. The porch has a tiled floor with geometric motifs, a wall of black tiles with panels featuring plant motifs in Art Nouveau style and two doors. The panel door to the flat above has curved hasps, a decorative grille with gilded rosettes, decorative fittings and a tall fanlight with glazing bars in Art Nouveau style. The display window consists of two rectangular windows. The fanlight is filled with a panel on which the shop name is indicated.
The first floor has three sash windows with twelve-light fanlights, hardstone drip mouldings, lintels with accolade motif and masonry relieving arch. The largely altered SHOP INTERIOR has a compartmented stucco ceiling with mouldings and central rosettes. The INTERIOR of the FLAT above possesses among other things stucco ceilings with mouldings and central rosettes, panel doors with profiled surrounds, two black marble chimney mantels, a stairwell with wooden stair, cast-iron balustrade and wooden handrail, and a basement with barrel vault and trough vaults on iron bearers.
