Omschrijving
Inleiding.
Voormalige WINKEL met twee WONINGEN en STALLING, nu in gebruik als horeca met woonruimte. Pand met een oude kern dat omstreeks 1900 gemoderniseerd werd in Ambachtelijk-traditionele vormen en ligt in de kern van Asten, op de hoek van de Marktstraat met de Julianastraat en Kleine Marktstraat.
Omschrijving.
Eénlaags pand op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder zadeldak waarvan de nok evenwijdig aan de Julianastraat loopt. Het pand is grotendeels gepleisterd, geblokt uitgevoerd voorzien van hoekpilasters. Het achterste gedeelte is in handgevormde baksteen uitgevoerd en heeft een muizetand en een gepleisterde plint. Het dak is gedekt met muldenpannen en aan de Julianastraat voorzien van een gootlijst. De kopse gevel aan de Marktstraat heeft op de begane grond en in de topgevel getoogde T-ramen in een gestucte omlijsting met kuiven. De zijgevel bevat dezelfde ramen. In het midden van de zijgevel aan de Julianastraat is een deur met aan weerszijden rechthoekige ramen aangebracht. Dit geheel is in een gepleisterde omlijsting gevat. Rechts daarvan is een T-raam, als in de voorgevel, aangebracht. In het achterste gedeelte van de zijgevel zijn twee rondboogpoorten aangebracht. Links van de meest linkse daar een gerusticeerde pilaster, rechts een gladde liseen. Getoogd raam aanwezig. De kopse gevel aan de Kleine Marktstraat 4 is voorzien van een verlaagde deur en enkele ramen waaronder een vierruitsraam in de topgevel. De topgevel wordt bekroond door een windveer. De achtergevel is van een enkele aanbouw voorzien en heeft nieuw pleisterwerk. De aanbouw is van recente datum en valt buiten de van rijkswege geldende bescherming.
Waardering.
Het pand is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde die het heeft als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling. Tevens is het pand van belang vanwege de bewaard gebleven oorspronkelijke woon/werkfunctie. Het exterieur is gaaf bewaard gebleven.

Description.
Single-storey building on a rectangular ground plan under a gabled roof with the ridge running parallel to Julianastraat. The building is largely rendered, executed with rustication and provided with corner pilasters. The rear section is executed in hand-formed brick and has a saw-tooth bond and a rendered plinth. The roof is covered with curved pantiles and provided with a drip moulding on Julianastraat. The gabled end on Marktstraat has on the ground floor and in the top gable arched T-windows in a stuccoed frame with hoods. The side gable contains the same windows. In the middle of the side gable on Julianastraat a door has been installed with rectangular windows on either side. This whole is set in a rendered frame. To the right of this is a T-window, as in the front gable, installed. In the rear section of the side gable two round-arched openings have been installed. To the left of the leftmost one a rusticated pilaster, to the right a smooth lisene. An arched window is present. The gabled end on Kleine Marktstraat 4 is provided with a lowered door and several windows including a four-pane window in the top gable. The top gable is crowned by a weathervane. The rear gable is provided with a single extension and has new rendering. The extension is of recent date and falls outside the protection afforded by national heritage.

The building is of general importance due to the cultural-historical value it has as a particular expression of a social-economic and typological development. Furthermore, the building is important due to the preserved original residential/work function. The exterior has been well preserved.
