Inleiding.
GRAF op de begraafplaats van R.K. kerk Maria Presentatie. Het graf van J.M.E. van Best, dorpsarts J.B. Verhoeven en L.G.M. Huysmans dateert uit 1914 en heeft in de decoratie elementen van de Art Nouveau.
Omschrijving.
Graf, bestaande uit een ommuurd veld van ongeveer vier meter breed en bijna 2,75 meter diep. De muur heeft een iets uitstekende plint en is opgebouwd uit zandstenen blokken. Aan de achter- en zijkanten is de muur circa 1.50 meter hoog en heeft een afdekrand van decoratieve, geprofileerde zandstenen blokken. Aan de voorzijde is de muur laag. Op de hoeken zijn pijlers geplaatst, bekroond door een decoratieve steen met plantenbak. De rechter achterhoek is afgeschuind en hoger opgetrokken.
Aan de binnenzijde is vanaf de afgeschuinde hoek, tegen de rechtermuur een lage bank geplaatst. Daarboven bevindt zich, in de hoek een uitstekend gedeelte met opschrift: DE RECHTVAARDIGE/EEUWIGE HERINNERING. In de linkermuur is aan de voorzijde een smeedijzeren poortje tussen pijlers aangebracht. Tegen de binnenzijde van deze muur zijn in drie blokken zandsteen opschriften in reliëf gemaakt: - HIER RUSTEN/J.M.E. VAN BEST/* VALKENSWAARD 22 AUG. 1881/ + ASTEN 23 NOV. 1914/EN HAAR ECHTGENOOT, - J.B. VERHOEVEN/ARTS TE ASTEN/* DEVENTER 17 JUNI 1874/ + 'S-BOSCH 23 NOV. 1934, - EN DIENS ECHTGENOTE/L.G.M. HUYSMANS/* WOENSEL 23 SEPT. 1881/+ ASTEN 8 SEPT. 1953. Het midden van de achtermuur is hoger opgetrokken en heeft aan de zijkanten voluten en een halfronde bekroning. Aan de binnenzijde is een opschrift aangebracht: RUST ZACHT/MIJN GOEDE BETSY/LIEF MOERDERTJE/SLAAP ZACHT. De pijlers in de linker voor- en rechter achterhoek zijn begroeid met klimop.

GRAVE on the cemetery of R.K. church Maria Presentatie. The grave of J.M.E. van Best, village physician J.B. Verhoeven and L.G.M. Huysmans dates from 1914 and has Art Nouveau elements in its decoration.
Description.
Grave consisting of a walled field approximately four metres wide and almost 2.75 metres deep. The wall has a slightly projecting plinth and is built up of sandstone blocks. On the rear and side the wall is approximately 1.50 metres high and has an edging of decorative, profiled sandstone blocks. On the front the wall is low. Pilasters are placed on the corners, crowned by a decorative stone with planter box. The right rear corner is bevelled and built higher.
On the inside from the bevelled corner, against the right wall a low bench is placed. Above this, in the corner a projecting section with inscription: THE RIGHTEOUS/ETERNAL REMEMBRANCE. In the left wall on the front a wrought-iron gate between pilasters is placed. Against the inside of this wall inscriptions in relief are made in three sandstone blocks: - HERE REST/J.M.E. VAN BEST/* VALKENSWAARD 22 AUG. 1881/ + ASTEN 23 NOV. 1914/AND HER HUSBAND, - J.B. VERHOEVEN/PHYSICIAN AT ASTEN/* DEVENTER 17 JUNE 1874/ + 'S-BOSCH 23 NOV. 1934, - AND HIS WIFE/L.G.M. HUYSMANS/* WOENSEL 23 SEPT. 1881/+ ASTEN 8 SEPT. 1953. The centre of the rear wall is built higher and has volutes on the sides and a semicircular crown. On the inside an inscription is placed: REST WELL/MY GOOD BETSY/DEAR LITTLE MOTHER/SLEEP WELL. The pilasters in the left front and right rear corner are overgrown with ivy.

The grave is of general importance because of the cultural-historical value it possesses and because of the rare form, the use of materials and the stylistic elements in the decoration.
