Inleiding
Het HEK verschaft toegang tot het terrein met kerk en begraafplaats van de Nederlands Hervormde kerk te Burgwerd, bekend onder monumentnr. 39327. Het terrein dat omgeven is door een sloot is verder afgescheiden middels een heg.
Omschrijving
Het gietijzeren hek bestaat uit twee lichtgebogen vleugels tussen pijlers met zijvleugel. De pijlers, die staan op een betonnen basement, hebben cannelures en worden bekroond door een gevleugelde zandloper.
De vleugels bestaan uit siersmeedwerk, verticale spijlen bekroond door Franse lelies en een vierpas-rand. Op de naald eveneens een Franse lelie.
De zijvleugels bestaan uit spijlen met Franse lelie, rustend op een opengewerkt vierkant met ster en respectievelijk een zon.

Het hek van de Nederlands Hervormde kerk te Burgwerd is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch belang:

Description
The cast-iron gate consists of two slightly arched wings between pillars with side wings. The pillars, which stand on a concrete base, have fluting and are crowned by a winged hourglass.
The wings consist of ornamental ironwork, vertical bars crowned by fleurs-de-lis and a quatrefoil edge. On the needle likewise a fleur-de-lis.
The side wings consist of bars with fleurs-de-lis, resting on an open-worked square with star and respectively a sun.
