Inleiding
De GRENSPAAL markeert de, met het voltooien van de Afsluitdijk in 1932, ontstane grens tussen Noord Holland en Fryslân. Deze provinciegrens, die het gevolg is van een groots waterbouwkundig plan is uniek. De paal die voorheen naast de A7 aan de IJsselmeerzijde stond is in de jaren '80 op het hoogste punt van de dijk geplaatst.
Omschrijving
De rechthoekige paal, met een hoogte van ca. 80 cm boven het maaiveld, is vervaardigd uit gebouchardeerde hardsteen. De paal loopt taps toe en heeft aan de bovenzijde een piramidale opstand. Aan weerszijden van de paal is, als het ware onder een afdakje in een loodrecht vlak, een bronzen plakkaat aangebracht met respectievelijk het wapen van Noord-Holland en Friesland.

De grenspaal is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:
- als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal/culturele ontwikkeling;
- als bijzondere uitdrukking van een landschappelijke en bestuurlijke ontwikkeling;

Introduction
The BOUNDARY MARKER marks the border between North Holland and Fryslân, which arose upon completion of the Afsluitdijk in 1932. This provincial border, which is the result of a grand hydraulic engineering plan, is unique. The marker, which previously stood next to the A7 on the IJsselmeer side, was placed on the highest point of the dike in the 1980s.
Description
The rectangular marker, with a height of approximately 80 cm above ground level, is made of bushhammered hard stone. The marker tapers and has a pyramidal finial at the top. On either side of the marker, as it were under a small roof in a vertical plane, a bronze plaque is attached with respectively the coat of arms of North Holland and Friesland.
