Omschrijving
SCHUTSLUIS aangelegd in 1907, bestaande uit een licht gebogen sluiskom met twee sluishoofden. De schutkolk heeft gemetselde wanden, waarvan de bovenrand is afgezet met een ijzeren band; op de rand ijzeren bolders. De beide gemetselde sluishoofden hebben hoekstukken van basaltlava en een paar schotbalksponningen. Het noordelijk gelegen sluishoofd heeft een paar houten sluisdeuren met leuningen van hoekstaal; op de deur aan de westzijde een rinket met heugelstang en tandwielkast; in het westelijke sluishoofd een gevelsteen met de volgende tekst: "in opdracht van de stad Groningen heeft Jhr Tjarda van Starkenborgh van Stachhouwer 19 juni 1907 de eerste steen gelegd." Het zuidelijke sluishoofd heeft een paar vernieuwde houten sluisdeuren met buisleuningen (oorspronkelijk hoekprofielstaal) en bedieningskastjes (niet origineel).
De draaibrug is geheel vernieuwd en valt derhalve buiten de bescherming.

Description
LOCK constructed in 1907, consisting of a slightly curved lock chamber with two lock gates. The lock chamber has masonry walls, the upper edge of which is finished with an iron band; iron bollards on the edge. Both masonry lock gates have corner pieces of basalt lava and a pair of cross-beam mortises. The lock gate located to the north has a pair of wooden lock gates with railings of angle steel; on the gate on the west side a ratchet with lever rod and gearbox; in the western lock gate a foundation stone with the following text: "on behalf of the city of Groningen, Jhr Tjarda van Starkenborgh van Stachhouwer laid the first stone on 19 June 1907." The lock gate located to the south has a pair of renewed wooden lock gates with pipe railings (originally angle steel) and control boxes (not original).
The swing bridge has been entirely renewed and therefore falls outside the protection.
