Omschrijving onderdeel 2:
PARKAANLEG, XIXa; het grootste deel van de hier en daar flink geaccidenteerde aanleg, een klein landschappelijk park, stilistisch zeer verwant aan de parken van L.P. Roodbaard, maar waarschijnlijk ouder, ligt ten zuidoosten van het huis en heeft een plattegrond in de vorm van een onregelmatig trapezium; het centrum ervan bestaat uit een min of meer rond weiland, dat omgeven is door bos en ervan gescheiden is door een diepe sloot, die ten noorden van het weiland overgaat in een langwerpige vijver, met grillige oevers in landschapsstijl, waarover men uitzicht heeft vanuit de oostelijke zijgevel van het huis; de vijver zou de plattegrond van een vis hebben; in het bos rond het centrale weiland ligt een patroon van gebogen onverharde wandelpaden; in de zuidwesthoek van dit parkgedeelte ligt een rechthoekig weiland, dat geen visuele band met het huis heeft; langs de westrand van dit parkdeel loopt een zandlaan, onregelmatig beplant met eik. Ten westen van het huis ligt een vierkant gebiedje met een moestuin zonder opstallen of muren; verder een weiland langs de westgrens en een zeer geaccidenteerd bosje langs de Lemferdingerlaan.
Aan de voorzijde van het huis (zuidkant) ligt een zeer kleine romantische aanleg met een (nauwelijks meer herkenbaar) rondgaand pad langs een gazon, waarin een zonnewijzersokkel; verder met o.a. een treurbeuk en een rode beuk; oostelijk naast deze aanleg de restanten van een kleine rotstuin uit het begin van de 20e eeuw.
Grote delen van de parkaanleg gaan terug op de parkaanleg van de voormalige buitenplaats Lemferdinge (eind 18de of begin 19de eeuw). Na de verkaveling van Lemferdinge werd op een deel ervan de 'nieuwe' buitenplaats De Duinen gesticht. Onder meer de vijverpartij en de ronde weide ten zuidoosten van het huis zijn relicten van de oudere aanleg van Lemferdinge.
Waardering
PARKAANLEG is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;
- vanwege de landschappelijk-visuele waarden;
- als goed voorbeeld van een kleine landschappelijke aanleg uit het eind van de 18de of het begin van de 19de eeuw, waarbij delen van de reeds aanwezige parkaanleg van de voormalige buitenplaats Lemferdinge zijn geïntegreerd.

PARK LAYOUT, early 19th century; the greater part of the here and there quite uneven layout, a small landscape park, stylistically very related to the parks of L.P. Roodbaard, but probably older, lies to the southeast of the house and has a ground plan in the form of an irregular trapezium; its centre consists of a more or less round meadow, which is surrounded by woodland and separated from it by a deep ditch, which north of the meadow becomes a long narrow pond with irregular shorelines in landscape style, with views from the eastern side facade of the house; the pond would have the ground plan of a fish; in the woodland round the central meadow lies a pattern of curved unmade footpaths; in the southwestern corner of this park section lies a rectangular meadow, which has no visual connection with the house; along the western edge of this park section runs a sand lane, irregularly planted with oak. To the west of the house lies a square area with a vegetable garden without outbuildings or walls; furthermore a meadow along the western boundary and a very uneven small wood along the Lemferdingerlaan.
At the front of the house (south side) lies a very small romantic layout with a (barely recognisable anymore) path running around a lawn, in which a sundial base; further with including a weeping beech and a red beech; to the east of this layout the remains of a small rock garden from the early 20th century.
Large parts of the park layout go back to the park layout of the former country estate Lemferdinge (late 18th or early 19th century). After the subdivision of Lemferdinge, the 'new' country estate De Duinen was founded on part of it. Among other things the pond section and the round meadow to the southeast of the house are relics of the older layout of Lemferdinge.
